2025 LT Trail Boss Duramax

I just bought a 2025 LT Trail Boss Duramax because my small truck really couldn't tow much more than 3,000 lbs comfortably. What are you guys towing? I was looking at travel trailers in the 4-5,000 lb range but not sure if I got the right set up. It's pretty basic with the 18" mud tires and what not. Just curious...

You should be good to go with your truck. I'm on my second 3.0 Duramax Silverado 1500 and it tows great . The first one I definitely pushed the limits and hauled a 9000# small dozer on a tandem trailer. Often pulled a 20' enclosed car hauler loaded pretty heavy. Pulled a 21' ski boat all over the West. The 25 I know have seems to pull much better than the previous 20. I get 18mpg hauling ski boats at 70+ mph.. the truck doesn't even know its there. 4/5k lbs shoud be totally fine.

I agree. You should have no issues. I myself haul some heavy loads. Difference is I have a SC 6.2 liter. Only difference. I haul up to a 30" enclosed toy hauler full with no issues. You are all good!

Other than the idiotic DEF BS from the computer, I have had NO problem towing about a 6K, 26' trailer through the mountains of AZ, UT. I do use a Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Dist w/Sway control hitch, removed the rear Rancho shocks and replaced with Bilstein 5100 and removed the stock 20" Bridgetones (even though the were great tires but will be selling them soon) and replaced with some "E" rated AT tires.

Towed my 23’ Winnebago up over a 2800’ mountain pass (the kanc) biggest we have around here, no issues at all, nice and stable, mine is the 5.3 so apples to oranges. My brother in law does have the 3.0 in his company truck and hauls mowers, big chippers etc, they bought it because of the duramax…

This is definitely the reason my 6L80 went out. The concrete tank says "11,250 lbs" and the mini-excavator is almost 13k. Driving in 4-low isn't ideal. The 5.3 needs to go too. Has anyone swapped in a 6.6?

holy crap that is too much to expect of a 1/2 ton truck, get a 1 ton dually and tow LEAGALLY. You hit somebody with that thing and your screwed.

I was trolling a little showing the crazy weight it can tow, but seriously, the Trail Boss is the 'little engine that could'. It does everything I've asked it to do and more. The transmission was fine until the bypass/overheating issue. The 6L80 does fine with the weight, but does not like heat so it turned in it's resignation at 68k miles. I found this new 5500HD 4x4 and got it out the door for $77300 in Texas. I this will tow everything now...;)

Good morning! I read your previous reply about towing a 9K lb dozer and was backing you up with a few pictures of how much these little trucks can tow...I never said safely...hahaha! The trailer better have good brakes and nothing here represented it was legal or even sane - oh, and don't ever get on the freeway with any load over legal limits or unsecured. A good rule of thumb: "Would I feel safe with my family driving in front of or behind this thing being towed?"
