Anyone have this problem?

Lots of rain in California, filling up sand bags and the tail gate would not work just locked up, now I see a recall on the tail gate.

Notices are supposed to start coming on March 18
the notices are out, i can see the recall on GM app for my 23 denali 3500....i dont see it for my 23 Trailboss though

I think the recall is for tailgates opening on their own.

If your tailgate won't open and you don't hear the latches working when you push the button you most likely have a problem with electrical system for the tailgate (fuse, wiring, tailgate actuator, BCM).

If you do hear the latches working when the button is pushed but the gate doesn't come down it could be an alignment issue or latches in need of lubrication. I use silicone spray on my non multi flex tailgate whenever it starts to not open on the first push of the button.

You could pull the cover off the inside of the tailgate and look for obvious problems such as water or corrosion at connectors, but start with the simple stuff like a blown fuse first. I haven't done it but I understand you can also manually open the tailgate by pulling the latches from inside with the cover off.

If the truck battery or the key fob battery get too low in voltage, it could cause this as well. My truck had a bad battery from the factory and all sorts of systems stopped working when the voltage got low (FCW, AutoStop, Stereo, etc.).

My tailgate stop opening once but also the driver door wouldn't open without pushing the key fob buttons. The tailgate buttons on the key fob and inside the truck wouldn't open the tailgate either. Turned out that a forced update from GM had changed the setting that turns on/off the unlock feature when the key fob was near the truck. After I turned the setting back to on everything worked as normal.

How did you turn back on the setting? Mine won’t open with the tailgate button but will with the key fob button. I also don’t know where the fuse is, if it has one.
