I have a deal in place for a 2024 LT Trail Boss, 5.3 12,500 miles, slate grey dark essentials package (which I love). My 21 has 37k miles. They are selling the 24 to me for 54k, (originally asking $56,500) They are giving me 41k for my 21. In the end I am financing $42, 678. I am putting $2500 down. I got financed through Navy Federal for 4.79%. The deal is done, truck is being delivered to me on Friday for $300.00. If I refuse the truck, I am only out the $300.00 delivery charge. I love my 21, but my powertrain warranty is up in January. We are all aware of the possible issues these trucks can have (my lifters failed at 5500 miles). My truck is only elegible for a 3rd party warranty which I do not trust. I feel I am getting a pretty good deal. I just have second guesses as I love my 21, but I plan on buying a GMPP warranty before I get to 24k on the 2024 for piece of mind. We only drive about 8k miles a year, and if I buy the GMPP warranty before 24k miles and is still under bumper to bumper, I can get another 7 years which will give me piece of mind as I want to keep it a very long time. I am just trying to stop talking myself out of it, as there is nothing wrong with mine, I love it, but the deal is good and the piece of mind is important too. So, looking for opinions, talk me into going through with it, or I should I back out while I can? Both trucks are 5.3 V8's by the way.

LOL, I like i idea! Just did a lot to my truck, made it mine... its hard! I am most likely going through with it, unless the 24 is not in the shape I am hoping it is. Pictures look good..and I am assuming their inital $56,500 price will hopefully reflect that. Just hate to see mine go too!

I had the new truck itch a couple months back when a buddy showed up with a brand new 2024 RST. I strongly consider trading in my 2021 TB 6.2L with 50k miles but couldn't let it go. I got my '21 setup the way I like it & couldn't justify starting over. But, hey that me.... you do you.

Yeah that is where I am at. My 21 is mostly stock outside of a borla xs muffler, I added the dark decals, tail light covers, black exhaust bezels etc. The 24 comes with all the black out stuff, so I am good there. I am keeping my bed cover, putting original running boards back on it etc, so the new one will be close to what I have now. I do love the slate grey, especially since they stopped making it (although the stopped making silver ice back in 22). If the truck checks out, and is in just as good condition as mine is now, I will most likely go through just to get the piece of mind of having a GM backed warranty.

My dealer sold me a third party warranty on my truck from new. They are a high volume dealer in my area and the extended warranty is through the length of the loan(7 years). I was mostly concerned with all the electronics in the vehicle and the cost of replacing them should something go out after factory warranty which I'm already beyond in time but not miles as I only have just over 31K on my 2021.

Why are you only eligible for a 3rd party warranty? You can get GMEPP up to 80k miles.

No way i'd trade a low mileage '21 for a '24.

I do not know if it is something about being in Florida, but I have checked through GM, my dealership and Todd Sutherland, the guy known for selling GMPP's, and I have been told from everyone since my truck is out of bumper to bumper, my only option is to go 3rd party. Florida is really weird with warranties, so I am not sure if that is the issue. I would gladly keep my truck if I could get one through GM. This deal, just happens to be a good deal, won't hurt me financially and give me the piece of mind.

Is Florida one of the states where you can only buy in-state warranties? If not, contact Knapp - https://www.knappvehicleservicecontracts.com/protection-plans

GMEPP can be purchased in or out of warranty up to the 80k mile mark. If you are out of warranty a pre-purchase inspection will be required. This is a relatively new thing...I know that back in 2019 it was not possible to buy a GM extended warranty if you were out of factory B2B coverage. But that's not the case now. There is definitely some confusion on this - I was told by a well-known GMEPP dealer in PA that I was out of luck because I was out of B2B warranty coverage just last spring...but Knapp confirmed that that is not true. GMEPP can be purchased even if you are out of factory warranty.

Yes, I contacted Knapp a few months ago, I am out of luck because they can not sell in Florida.

I think you just need to keep trying different dealers in FL until you find one that actually knows the deal.
Yeah, I may reach out to a few more today. The thing is, I went through a link on the official chevy or gm website and chatted with a warranty specialist (so they say) and was told the same thing. I really am wondering if its something to do with Florida. Todd Sutherland told me he can sell in Florida, but he couldn't sell on my current truck because b2b is up.

It is a bit weird - I contacted James Black Cadillac here in PA last spring, because they are well known as the go-to for GMEPP deals...and they absolutely will not sell you a warranty if you are out of factory B2B. They even require an inspection if you are over 24k miles. Knapp and a few others that have been mentioned since then have no issue selling you a warranty as long as you are under 80k miles...Knapp even emailed me a blank contract to prove that it is in fact GMEPP and that the fine print states that you just need to be under 80k miles.

So I dunno if these are two separate GM products or if there are a lot of dealers operating under the old rules.

Yeah I wish Knapp could sell in Florida, they mentioned to be that was the only reason I could not buy one

Well I ended up going through with it. The truck was delivered to my door step from St. Augustine to Panama City today. Truck is in amazing shape. Only blemish is the very small chips in the front black bumper (no worse than my 21). I really love the upgraded interior, as I had not seen one in person outside of looking through the window at one at my local dealership. I swear the throttle response is better than my 21, but that could just be me or that its a newer truck. The actual air bag dangler was still on the glove box, as well as the factory screen protector. I am not sure what the previous owner did for 12,500 miles, but the truck looks brand new overall. My only complaint is the bose system does not seem as punchy as my 21's, but thats really not that big of a deal. Now I gotta re-install my off road running boards, tonneau cover that I took off of my 21. Small upgrades to come, but I am in love with the 24. Glad I went through with it!
