Hey everyone, I just did a transmission pan drop and fluid service on my Trail Boss with the 10L80. Wanted to share because I know a lot of people are unsure about servicing these. I replaced the pan/filter assembly and refilled using the proper temp check procedure. The fluid condition wasn’t terrible, but I’m glad I did it for preventive maintenance.

I filmed the whole process including removing the pan, what the fluid looked like, and checking the level between 167°F–176°F with the engine running. It’s definitely doable at home if you take your time.

I installed the same! Great pan since now we can do at least an easy no mess drain since it has a dedicated plug.

Your welcome

looks great. How was the job for you? Any issues that you ran into
A little bit of an issue. I had to drop the Y-pipe and in order to do so, I had to remove the exhaust flange bolts and Bank 1 Sensor 1 and Bank 2 Sensor 1 O2 sensors. In order to remove the old pan and install the PPE, I definitely needed to remove the flange bolts to drop the Y-pipe. I only removed the sensors because I didn't want to take the chance of breaking a connection.

Is the pan the same dimension as the factory pan where the exhaust pipe crosses the pan? The reason I ask is because I installed the AWE 0FG exhaust and it replaces the crossover pipe with an unflattened pipe, so it has a tad less clearance that factory. As long as the new pan is the same height there then it will not be a problem. I really wan to buy this pan but I want to be sure it fits.

Hmmmm...without the flattened portion of the crossover pipe, it will definitely be cutting it very close to touching the new PPE. As is, it is fairly close with the stock pan. The PPE is much deeper (much thicker girth). I can't answer your question about the dimension comparison because I no longer have my stock pan. If I was you:
1.) I would take a measurement between the distance you currently have between the stock pan and the AWE crossover pipe;
2.) I would take a measurement of thickness of your current pan where the pipe crosses over it;
3.) I would then contact PPE directly with your measurements and inquire with them whether they can tell you whether it will fit. I would also ask them about a return refund policy in the unfortunate issue it will not fit.

Hopefully this helps and good luck. I really hope it will work in your case because the pan is a good one (holds an additional 2.5qts of fluid) plus the added drain plug.

I was debating about calling their support already. I think that is what I will do. Thank you for your help.

wouldnt most of that be on the down side of the pipe....i dont recall my Borla adding any top side height, other than possibly being slightly larger, which i dont recall it being as it goes right over the stock CAT outlet. there bend profile would possibly change that more so.
