Trail Boss Door and Console Fake Wood Trim replaced with GMC AT4 Variant

SDParts just informed me the parts are on back order and they cancelled my order. I didn’t really need them anyway😂

Looks awesome. I have no idea why this didn't just come standard in the Trail Boss to begin with. Oh well, maybe something I can ask for this coming xmas 😄
Same reasons Chevrolet built these with "Midnight Edition" and silver Z71 badges, and wireless carplay but no wireless charger 🤨 😂

Looks great, nice work! Can it be done without removing the pieces? I’m only asking since I have a bad history of breaking these plastic clips haha!
It could be done still attached but a hell of a lot easier removing them and wrapping them on a work bench. Especially the center console ones.

It's interesting you had wood in your Midnight Edition. The one I looked at when I was shopping at my local dealer had the fake carbon fiber version that you replaced the wood with as part of the midnight package. It was a 2021, not sure what year yours is. I definetly want these but they are low on the priority list being so expensive. I have the bottom line textured all black plastic pieces in my Custom, so wrapping them wouldn't look good with the texture underneath.

Maybe someone who removed the “wood” trim pieces and bought new carbon ones could sell/give you their old smooth wood ones and you could wrap them?
I wrapped my wood ones and they came out great👍

The few "wood" ones I've found on ebay are as much or more than the "carbon fiber" ones.

I’m talking about guys here on the TB forum with worthless interior door trim parts in their garage. I have two Z71 emblems I’ll be giving away soon👍

Has anyone just used vinyl wrap? It’s way cheaper.
Yes I purchased vinyl wrap to cover up the "chrome" looking plastic to the left of my steering wheel under the air vent because it was reflecting in my side mirror with the window up. It worked well and I will be covering other areas just to match what I have already done. Work in progress.

I hated the wood look on my 22 T.B. and threw around a lot of different ideas before removing everything and experimenting with my airbrush paints. I paint custom fishing lures for a hobby and a little extra cash and have a wide variety of colors so I wanted to experiment with what I thought I wanted. Since the paint is water based it will scrub right off with water and a toothbrush so why not? I ended up going with a pearl black, which is actually more of a charcoal grey, and really liked the basic look of that and the chrome strip. Once the decision was final and everything was painted I took a can of aerosol clearcoat and put 5-6 light coats then 2 heavy coats. All things considered I had about 3 hours (over 2 days) and less than $10 invested. Something to consider if you're "thrifty" like me and know someone with an airbrush.
