Just hooked up my duel axle trailer (has been parked for a year). Could not get a gain on the trailer brake control.

Checked battery on the trailer. Only 7 volts. Need to get a new battery. Question-if this battery is dead would it affect getting the gain control to work in the truck ??

Thanks for any feedback. This TB-LT is great !

Forget what I wrote above. The emergency brake battery does not have anything to do with normal operations.
Taking to a trailer Doctor to have it looked at.
e-trailer.com is a great place to look for wiring schematics and trailer parts.

The dealership ordered my new part and will install on 3/21
Hey Blue. I had mine installed 03/03. It fixed the issue with warning of "trailer brake service". Works great. Good luck. It should resolve all issues.

They have to remove the whole plate (where the radio is) to get to the part

What percentage of Trail Bosses have this problem?
I too am curious about this. does anyone have experience with having this fix installed prospectively? I have not yet hooked up to a trailer with brakes, but do not want t wait around until I do and being SOL for a known issue.

I didn't want to wait for GM and replaced the controller myself, super easy install. Have tested repeatedly and now towed with it, no more issues! see the trailboss towing thread for more info

I’m curious too. I have a 22 Refresh and towed our 25’ ranch trailer behind it, and the brake controller worked beautifully.

My service advisor said when I called to have mine replaced she said others had called to have theirs fixed even though they had not towed at all.
The warning came up on the info screen. "Trailer Braking needs Service". I have towed one time after having mine replaced. No more warnings and does a great job.
