So...transmission has always been suspect - 8 speed, 5.3. Long story short - dealership is going to replace transmission under extended warranty and I will be without a truck for at least 6 weeks.

This is my only vehicle ------------ does anyone have any slick ideas on what to do for an interim vehicle during that 6 week period ---- I got nothing......nothing good anyways

thanks

6 weeks is ridiculous, if they tell you 6 expect 8
Rent
Borrow
Buy cheap and re-sell in 2 months
I am currently looking at a 2020 Boss with 5.3 and a 6 speed. I believe that transmission may have bugs worked out

I was told there is a national shortage of the replacement transmission. Was also advised that a lot of the earlier bugs/faulty parts of said transmission have been quietly fixed/parts upgraded (so the service dept. has noticed this improvement in the newer transmissions over time, but GM never announced that they were addressing these issues in real time).....

Well first, have the dealer order the trans. Wait until it is received to set up replacement. Shouldn't take more than a couple days...
No need to be without your truck while they wait for the part(s), unless it's undriveable.

doesn't work that way. Once they call in the repair a 3 party GM guy has to come diagnose the issue as well. Then they order the parts. I was told the truck has to stay on the lot the whole time.....doesn't make a lot of sense to me
