2021 chevy silverado 1500 custom Trail Boss 5.3 v8
Just got my 21 trailboss 5.3 back from the dealership. Checkballs 1-6 shrunk and went through the holes on the plate in the transmission. Needed a full transmission overhaul. I thank the lord above i still have the power train warrant so it was no cost to me. 🤞it dosen't happen again. I do towe a 31ft 6,400 lbs travel trailer. Maybe it cant handle towing what they say it can handle.

I realize the power train warranty on my vehicle is the 5/60,000, but has anyone looked into replacing the stock valve body to an aftermarket such as what is available by Next Gen Drivetrain, Inc.? I wanted to try to be proactive because we all know GM has used some crappy cheap parts.

many of people have it, as a repair to their failed part....to do it preventatively is somewhat costly, but I FEEL it maybe worth it...

drive until the very first indication you may have a trans issue, then dive in...Valve body and Convertor.

I have also heard of dealerships denying claims based on bullshit such as changing out stock wheels and tires to larger tires. We all know this is BS because if simply blaming on larger tire size, then when towing thousands of pounds, of course, within spec should void the warranty if that action causes transmission failure, should it not?? What a crock of shit when it comes to dealerships denying failed transmissions under the powertrain warranty based on the use of larger tires than what the vehicle came with as stock. Whatever happened to the basis behind dealerships having to "prove aftermarket parts caused the failure" according to the Magnusson-Ross Warranty Act??

According to what this Act protects regarding aftermarket parts:

Warranty Voidance Facts

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act clearly stipulates that warranties cannot be voided merely due to the use of aftermarket parts or services. Manufacturers are required to PROVE that the non-original part or service was the direct cause of the defect to deny warranty claims.

It’s a legal battle most won’t undertake and some dealerships and GM understand it. They have to prove any modifications caused the failure but they don’t have to prove it us, they have to prove it to a judge or Federal agency and that means legal course of action. That is one advantage to dealer installed mods, if your dealers offer those options.

They market these vehicles as off road capable and then use any excuse to not cover warranty that GM KNOWS has design or manufacturing issues.

GM tried to ignore the 6.2 failures until the Feds stepped in.

I have no faith that GM will do the right thing.

all in all, the SHRINKING of the check balls have nothing to do with the trailer or pulling of loads....
i want to say, this is an issue of wear from shift cycles....so if you want to say towing increases that, then fine...but both, the check balls as well as the castings have flaws ( or could have flaws)
