2025 Trail Boss 1500
I have a 2025 Chevy Trail Boss 1500 with the 5.3L V8 motor and just over 12k miles. Love the truck but discovered yesterday I am using coolant. No leaks / puddles but can smell it in the exhaust and the reservoir is low. Took it in for warranty repair as it is still covered and I am getting a run around. Said they replaced two ignition coils and obviously that has nothing to do with coolant being used. Has anyone had this issue or know if this motor has a known problem with this? Any advice or information is greatly appreciated.

Not yet. Although my Camaro uses coolant somehow 🤔. Not a lot but some. No leaks no smell ???

Not saying this is normal...but many have complained about the running water sound in the day during start up....that is sign 1 that the coolant is low.

Where is it going....my best guess would evaporation from the NOW NORMALLY HIGHER engine temps due to EFI needing that to be efficient....supposedly.

Interesting.... I haven't had a "running water sound." I have had the truck for just over 10 months with no issues. Drove it to work that morning with no issues and started it up to make a hardware run a few hours later and I could smell coolant, and I got a flashing check engine light (not a steady light which I found odd) and a service traction control message. The light and error message eventually cleared themselves and didn't return on the drive to the shop. Hard to find the correlation in my head. Just had routine maintenance done and I always check my fluids to be thorough. Everything seemed normal.

I have 29K on my 2022 Refreshed and I noticed the coolant level low and the smell also. No sign of leaking.
