Software Updates

Is it possible that the SXM radio signal loss could be due to the short radio antenna possibly if you have replaced them from the stock. Reattach the stock and see if your signal improves.
The fender antenna is for AM/FM. The SXM uses the "shark fin" antenna on the roof.

Mine finally worked.

That's the one that killed my battery. Took 5 days for that to happen eventhough it said it was completed. I got a really detailed explanation from the dealer on my invoice when i picked it up. The update install was hung up at 58% in the micro processor which kept it running and trying to install. I wasnt sure what alot of the notes meant so i reached out to a friend who is a GM engineer. He said there is a bug in the software whithin the microprocessor that sometimes doesnt unzip the update files corrrectly which causes this issue. Using the vin on my truck he was able to see what had happened. He also said gm/dealer installed newest update which didnt contain any new or feature updates. he said what it contained was an update to the updater itself to allow for more updates to be done over wifi if vehichle not on data plan. he said they also updated microprocessor software to fix the bug of it not unzipping files correctly.

is there a recall on this or a service bulletin at least I can refer my dealer too about it?

On my invoice notes it states they performed bulletin 23NA143, and programmed Radio USB Program 80YZ182034162 , Radio SPS 80YZ182055455. Also when you pull up previous updates under the update secion in settings on the radio it shows and update that wasnt there prior to my battery dying. That is 86563196.mnf QIHM22B-00804.01

I would agree with you, but someone else on another forum told me that the shark fin was your gps and that your antenna controlled all three signals. So at this point I am not sure anymore. But just to throw an extra wrench in, when I bought my short antenna for my truck it specifically said works with AM/FM & SXM radios. Why would they say that if it is not used for Satellite Radio?

I could be wrong 🤣

My 2022 re-fresh dose the always skips or cuts out randomly also. Took it in last year same old thing can't get it to do it and the engineers are working on a fix. Fast forward to last month got my first oil change & asked them to perform if any software updates for radio. Well picked it up and same thing after software, but I fixed it from doing it a lot and random. Don't ask me how but I figured out every time my ring at home went off the radio would skip, shut the ring off and 90% or more better.

I've yet to install them out of laziness and now everyone I know in real life who's tried has had their battery drained. Reading this thread doesn't inspire much confidence either.

Is there any way to properly verify the updates were successful and not continuing to run in the background? My trail boss is my work truck and it's just not a nuisance to lose time, but it's also a loss of money.

Thanks

I didn't have the battery drain issue with my update, I'm really glad !

Another update this morning 9/6/2023, maybe to correct the TPMS? The last update I did not have the battery drain but the truck would not resinizes the key flob for a couple hours.
