Software Updates

Does anyone here know how to do a software update without going to dealership and the on board updater is stuck.

do you need any special GM equipment or is there a way do it without the GM TIS system?

My trailboss has a pop up message when I put the truck in park on the radio screen, I saw one this morning I clicked install and shut the truck off.

Another update this morning 9/6/2023, maybe to correct the TPMS? The last update I did not have the battery drain but the truck would not resinizes the key flob for a couple hours.
That's my point. I'd like to see information about what each update was specifically for.

So I called the dealer about getting my software glitch fixed. I even gave them all the service bulletins regarding the issue. They told my I would need to leave my truck with them for 10 days so they could diagnose it.
I already did all the leg work for them all they have to do is plug it in to their TIS system and update the firmware,
it's about a 1-hour job at best.
GM has no respect for the customer's time.
San Tan Chevorlet I regret ever meeting you.

Has anyone seen this when checking for updates? whats up with 1970?

Update, I swapped out the upper half of my center console (seat) for more storage today, doing so I disconnected the battery for about 1 1/2 hours. when I hooked the battery backup, I decided for giggles to try the update again form the monitor (radio). I got a few messages saying connecting and disconnecting form my home Wi-Fi, it did this this 3 times, then it came back with no updates available, last update as of today's date. I'm going to call that one fixed. Take that GM. HA...

I've yet to install them out of laziness and now everyone I know in real life who's tried has had their battery drained. Reading this thread doesn't inspire much confidence either.

Is there any way to properly verify the updates were successful and not continuing to run in the background? My trail boss is my work truck and it's just not a nuisance to lose time, but it's also a loss of money.

Thanks
Not really much help to anyone else wondering, but eventually I got the warning the dealer would have to do the update so I parked in a place where the 4G truck connection had full bars. Performed the update and waited for it to finish. After it completed I started the truck and checked for new updates and said it was up to date. Been about a week now and no trouble except it changed all my HVAC settings for some reason lmao

Interesting about the WiFi issue. Per a friend of mine who is a GM engineer, this update had no feature updates but was to update a glitch in the WiFi that is going to enable the vehicles to get more updates.

Just took the update now my truck won't start from the inside button on dash but will from remote start called road side assistance got it towed to dealership weekend so nothing fixed hopefully Monday know what happened

Well, mine took the update on August 25th successfully. At least i thought it did, the app said it did and so did the update setting on the radio. Came out to go to work this morning and deader than a door nail. Had towed to dealer and was told today the update was hungup and kept the computer powered on which slowly drained my battery. Their fix was to replace the battery and manually do the update.
Same happened towed to dealer Friday waiting on my truck

i have been posting in another thread related to updates...last Thursday my 23 failed an update. upon starting to discover this, all speed related systems were in need of service

Trans case, 4wd, TPMS, frontal crash...al of them. Delaler could not update on friday, and called TRACC ?? on monday. they called within an hour of opening and said it was ready. All systems but the TPMS seem fine, i still have the RIGHT FRONT sensor issue...but since i do have aftermarket sensors, i will replace that one and see what happens'
