2020 chevy silverado trail boss
Good Morning, I have a 2020 Chevy LT-Trail Boss. My LOUD stock tires have now worn out, and I figured this is the time to pull the trigger on a lift, as I would like to replace them with 34's or 35's. I have been lightly researching for a couple of years and keep getting hung up in my research, and can't decide which way to go, if at all. I am looking for an economical yet solid choice for off-road, as I do some off-roading. I would like to go with a 4" but then you get into a pretty big price tag and welding/frame modifications, which may not be what I want to do. I am just fine with the 1.75 - 2" route as well, but all the one’s I have looked at say you can't use Auto 4WD for all I have seen due to added stress from bad angles caused by the lift. To further complicate things, I would like to use my stock 18" wheels for now. So the question is:

Is there a 1.75" - 2" lift that does not mess with the angles so I can still use Auto 4WD and use my stock 18" wheels?
This is the preferred method for me as I think this is all I need to fit a little bigger tires, get some lift, which looks good, and is fairly simple to install. I have heard of people using the Ready Lift 2.0 SST Lift (See screenshot below) while using Auto 4WD with no issues, but their website still has a disclaimer about it??? This WOULD be the perfect option for me as it seems relatively easy to install, the price tag is right, I get that lift look, and I can fit the bigger tires with little to no trimming. BUT…no Auto 4WD (See screenshot below)…Is there another brand that offers the same lift and relative ease of installation/price, but beefier components so there are no restrictions on the type of 4WD I can use???

Is there a 3-4" lift that is dependable and won't break the bank, and doesn't require a lot of fabricating and I can use my stock 18" wheels? I have some skills and a welder (and friends) but also...seems kind of sketchy to be welding on my 2020 truck that I am still paying off…

I appreciate the contributions this forum provides for people and thanks for any feedback you can all give me.

Would you use AUTO 4wd while trail riding anyway ? most likely not, you would be 2wd or 4 hi engaged...
i believe that statement HAS to exist due to being at eh travels limit and the system TRYING to engage under stress and shock loading it.

i would never, nor have i ever even considered the use of auto 4wd....i engage that feature on the wife and kids vehicle in ill weather...not mine.

Now, with the above said...very few 4" lifts (typically equaling 6" on a TB as most replace the stock assembly and negate the factory 2"), gain any wheel travel, they simply lift. where as, a replacement coil with better design, can actually gain travel numbers.

depending on your offroad style...Crawl, higher speed, or a mixed bag of mobbing around....the choices can get overwhelming. This is where the price goes up, when trying to accommodate ALL of those...typically a shock that offers quick easy adjustments is the best choice, but not in everyone budget. If it were, you would look for anything the lesser !

i highly recommend watching some reviews from Accutune or Shock Surplus as they do compare most brands against each other on the same vehicles.

if staying with the LEVELED up to 2" over (4" ish total), you WILL want to factor in an upper control arm to eliminate the weak ball joint angle issue.
if going to cradle drop lift (typically 4" and up), the stock arms are usually reused, as the stock angles are retained (i would still replace them)

if you dont mind stating...what would you want to spend ?? and i can assure you, stating AS CHEAP AS POSSIBLE, should end this conversation...and you grab a generic spacer lift and wish you didnt.

the money spent on adjustable shock, changes ones desires for the remainder of their life....
