Good morning. I am very new. This would be my first Trail Boss and first diesel HD truck.
I am in the final stage of purchasing a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD LTZ w/max trailering (aka: almost a 3500) after an extensive look at all of the big 3 350/3500 trucks. I wasn't even considering a 2500 until I clicked on one "because it looked cool" and learned about "max trailering" and what that actually means.
I am currently a 2023 Colorado ZF1 owner which is primarily a toad for my class A. I also own a 2025 Toyota Tundra Platinum which is my luxury daily. I really like this truck but the payload is abysmal.
I need more truck to do truck stuff. This would be my first time with a Duramax (and my first diesel ever) and only my second time with a 2500+ truck which was gas Powerwagon.
The not-really an Allison transmission scares me. The EGR/SCR stuff scares me.
I really hope I picked the right one out of small list of choices that all seem to equally not great. In the end, the decision to go this way was value (and my comfort with my Colorado.) The Silverado has the most truck for the least cost in a sea of $90K+ MSRP HD trucks.
Anyhow. Hello. Looking forward to learning everything I can about how to keep my truck healthy and trouble-free for the next 5 years.
