You expected DOHCs? (just curious)
It does seem that the power/torque of the new v8s is pushing the limit of the current 10L80's capability, but then so does the current 3.0 LZ0 and I haven't heard of chronic tranny failures (yet).

No to DOHC. The power is plenty for me and I like a simple small block but they could ditch the EPA cylinder crap for a normal cam, lifter configuration.
