Is this really true?! What the hell!! If this is accurate, GM is really starting to piss me off!

Only the V8 models. The 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the new 5.7L (L76) or 6.6L (L78) Gen 6 V8 engines has no oil dipstick — GM replaced it with an electronic sensor and a digital oil-level readout in the Vehicle Status menu on the infotainment screen (check with the engine idling and at operating temperature; if the level is low, the screen shows exactly how much oil to add).

Wasn’t this already the case on their late-model 5.3L and such?

Could’ve swore that I was hearing about that on YouTube videos.

It’s stupid, it’s like how they removed the belt tensioner years ago so now you have to get a specific (albeit, pretty cheap) tool to put the belts on 🤦‍♂️

They want you to bring your vehicles in for service vs doing it yourself. So they’re making it moderately harder/more annoying to do maintenance yourself.

My 2026 still has a dipstick so I think it's only on the brand new trucks.

Yeah the no belt tensioner is dumb and I hate how they're moving toward all that.

It is very dumb and GM is really pushing the envelope. I do agree with you that they do not want us doing our own work and they are also probably trying to save every dollar with the manufacturing process. I have a 2025 5.3L and it still has an oil dipstick.

Yup! GM really is starting to piss us off!

Unfortunately I think it's all mfgs and not one more than the other. I've got more experience with Chevy than any of the others though so I don't have any first hand experience with the other makes.

That's true! You do hear of problems with the other manufacturers as well! Too much greed in this world!

German cars have had closed fluid systems for years, it was only a matter of time til the North American makes caught up.
