I just picked up a rattle-can of Krylon Clear - Matte finish. I've seen the threads about glare from the black hood scoop, and experienced it in my TB. Some suggest a wrap with flat or matte black for the scoop, but I was thinking that spraying a matte coating would suffice.

Has anyone done this? Results? Longevity? Brand/style of paint?

I'll post a before/after once it's done.

You'll want to use a wax and grease remover first. You'll also want to lightly scuff it with 1500 or 2000 grit sand paper so the clear will stick long term.

I'm in the process of attempting it. I am using 2K matte black automotive paint. I tried a matte clear, but couldn't get consistent results and the finish looked like shit. Also, taking it off to paint is a royal pain in the rear. The foam will likely fall off and need to be replaced. I had to order 25' of equivalent foam from Digikey, and it was like a 6 week lead time (non-stocked item). I am about to try to finish it in the next couple weeks. I ran out of time last fall (hunting season) and have been waiting for the pollen to stop here so I can get a decent finish, so probably another month or so.
