Building a 2023 LT Trail Boss

I’m with you on that. Ordered my TB in January and received it a couple of weeks ago. I absolutely love it. My first Chevy since a 63 Belair that was my first car. I turned in a Tundra lease for this because I thought the new Tundras looked like a 5 yr old with a Lego set designed them, and they’re having some issues in any case. I like the look of the TB over the AT4’s and AT4x and can’t see the $10k premium for them. Could do Ford I guess, but never “Chrysler” 😂. Just a personal thing…

I am seeing that 2022s are seemingly dropping on the lots a bunch right now. Reading the nightmares about how long people waited for 2022 refresh custom orders makes me feel like I should cast a wide net for what I want and travel to pick one up off a dealer lot. Then further, reading about the potential for constraints on the 2023s makes me want to do this even more, even though I really like the idea of getting this truck built exactly to my preferred specs and seemingly waiting for a 2023 would give GM time to work out some bugs (I hate buying first model year of new tech - like the new infotainment)...

Anyone have any idea of when I will be able to build a 2023 LT Trail Boss on the chevy site?? I check frequently.
1. I want to see a picture of the TB in bronze
2. I just want to get my order in soon.
3. I'm impatient.
Get the 22 refresh same thing as far as I know....

Yes, been looking.
But none near me in the color I want.
And I don't know if my dealership can work something with other dealerships around the country to get one in my color delivered to my dealership.
Additionally, it almost seems like I'm "settling" for whatever is on the lot somewhere - whether or not it has the options/packages that I want. When tens of thousands of dollars are involved, I'm hesitant to take a truck that only comes close to my exact specs.
I agree though... Finding a 2022 somewhere is an option that I'm open to.
I need to talk to my guy at the dealership.

Tried to make a deal on an incoming 22, but I did not want to pay msrp, plus $2400 in dealer fees for a vehicle that was not even on the lot. Have an order in for a 23 elsewhere, but that one is constrained due to the convenience II package. What a mess.

All...
Does "constraints" mean that the truck will be built/delivered? ...just that it will be a while due to constraints on getting whatever parts.

It means Chevy has not accepted the order yet, the dealer has to try at different times. They were told the constraint was like 6 months, but should be shorter hopefully.

I have seen that many more are appearing on lots around me in Texas. My truck is built and sitting in Mexico for 5 weeks waiting to ship, so I have been the inventory in my area. I use autotrader and set the range at 300-500 miles for Trail Boss LT and it displays 100+, but once you put your preferred color your engine and your must have options that number drops pretty quickly. White and Black are the most widely available, the harder to find colors are Brilliant Reds, Northsky Blue, or Dark Ash at least with the 3.0 duramax in South Texas area. Most dealers in Texas have dropped to MSRP + the dealer add on packages. If you want a 5.3 come to Texas there are many available, the 6.2 and Duramax are harder to find, which then makes matching options in your color way more difficult. Cost on a 2022 refresh w / dealer add on will be about same as the 2023 as MSRP is about $1500-$2000 more since GM increased base price of all Silverado models. Best of luck whatever you do. Mean while I will keep searching while I wait for my 2022 Trail Boss LT refresh w/ Dark Ash, 3.0 Duramax.

So I found a couple 2022s pretty much spec'd the way I would build a 2023, but I have basically come to the conclusion that none of the dealers are going to honor supplier pricing on something on their lot or in transit. I have worked with a smaller local dealer that will honor supplier pricing on a custom order 2023, which seems like what I will have to do.

I am confused about how GM's allocations work for the dealerships and their constraints (am I much better off trying to go to a high volume dealer for a custom order? - I just hate dealing with the ones around me as they all are pushing the ADM bull crap and are a pain in the ass to get straight answers).

I guess I will just send in my build sheet and see on Thursday if they have an allocation, but am not counting on it. Is it worthwhile to try this with a couple dealerships to see who gets to place the order first?

I had talked to multiple dealers while shopping. When decided to try to order 2023 had the 2 that were helpful try and build, one couldn't get bid to go but said would try daily and other one at least got it submitted, but then price was $about $3K for a truck built as 2022. The dealer that didn't get bid through had one allocated that was what I wanted plus a sunroof in one of my 3 colors. Most dealers I talked to were willing to negotiate on dealer add, got them to offer adds at what they report as their cost; range was $900 - $1200.

Might be worth time to try a volume dealer in your area, mine is definately one of the bigger dealers around Houston and they have been getting and selling at least 10 Trail Bosses a month, as I watch their website and see them listed and then gone within days; hell they got 5 ZRs in 1 week and sold all by end of week.

Tried ordering at my local high volume dealer, but they were unable to submit the order due to Convenience Package II. They've been trying to do so for two weeks now with no luck whatsoever. Lame.

I really want the new LZ0 version of the Dmax 3.0, so none of the 2022s hitting the lot will work for me. Such is life.

Maybe good things come to those who wait? /fingerscrossed

To all thinking about building a 2023 on top of all the constraint issues, it looks like now we are going to have transportation issues, at least if your truck is shipped by rail. On Friday, the Train Workers Unions are threatening a strike so there may be a stop on all transportation by rail. I live in Texas and Silverado Trucks made in Mexico are shipped by rail, so my 2022 Dark Ash Trail Boss LT 3.0 Duramax which has been built and sitting at the factory since 7/6/2022 waiting to be shipped will continue to sit if this strike happens. From what I read today Biden's White House team is getting involved so here is hoping my truck gets here by Xmas. Get your orders in, because if they can't ship out, they likely can't get parts in at least not by rail.

Same. Also I've never paid MSRP for a vehicle, not about to start now. So if I need to wait, I wait.

My 2022 Trail Boss LT 3.0 has left the factory!!! After getting my weekly notice from GM on Wednesday that it is still just sitting in the storage lot of the factory in Mexico again. Since it had been sitting for about 3 months I went to visit dealer and that very day it shipped that afternoon. It had left the factory and was in transport to the coast to be loaded onto a boat to Freeport, Texas. ETA to dealership is 10/08/22. Good luck, to those of you who go ahead and order a 2023, I hope the turn around on build and ship improves for you guys.
