Have a 2024 TB 5.3, 20k miles…the electric tailgate was not something I was excited about, but it came with the truck. Last week I drove to Ohio and when I got to the hotel, the tailgate would not open…not by key fob, dash button, or tailgate button. I also had a dash alert of forward collision system unavailable. I have a hard cover on it and our luggage was in the bed. It made the alarm noise when pushing the buttons, but no lock/unlock noises at the tailgate. Owners manual online was worthless. After searching YouTube videos for an hour, I was able to figure out that it was the F12 fuse on the passenger side fuse box. Took it out, wiped it off and reinstalled…it worked. All buttons powered it and the forward collision alert went out…got a check engine warning, but it went out after a while. My issue is this…there is obviously an issue with the system. I was able to fix mine, and know what to do if it happens again, but most people will not know what to do. There is no tailgate recall for my model. I wanted to be a nice guy and notify GM that their recall may need to be extended to more models. I called my local dealership and they basically couldn’t care less if it wasn’t currently failing. I called the GM 1-800 number, and they were less concerned than the dealership. Do any of the GM gurus on here know the proper procedure or who one would contact to get GM to take this serious? I can’t believe that they just don’t care if their truck has a failure that they haven’t addressed. Again, my truck is working now, and my only concern is to notify them that an issue that they have discovered on other models, is affecting more models that they originally thought.
