Multiflex tailgate sealing

Sooo over the weekend I loaded several bushes into bed of my truck that I removed from Landscaping. Hauled to biosolids site. Welp the inside of my tailgate is full of dirt and crap now. Everytime I open and close tailgate it sounds like total shit with all the racket of the dirt shifting around inside it.
It’s fucking ridiculous honestly.
So before I tear it apart to remove all the shit trapped inside and then figure out how the hell to stop that from happening again figured I’d ask if anyone has been through this and has any advice.
This right here is not even Busch league level acceptable

did it enter through the fold down step area ? the have plastic plugs or even lights that fit those locations.

other than that, where would it have entered ?

I haven’t taken it apart an analyzed it yet. I do know there is a huge oval hole on the bottom that when folded down is vertical and facing the bed. That hole is a wire pass through. So perhaps while sweeping out the bed of my truck it was sitting there with its mouth wide open as it got fed. So that’s my first suspect I’ll be figuring out how to close up. Once I get into it I’ll know more.

Anybody have any experience with the seals that bridge the tailgate to bed gap? Any recommendations? I see GM accessories has one.
