What's new

New TB owner. Shocks are up first.

They ride fantastic. I have the Pro Truck Lift, it is adjustable height, but only up to the approximate stock ride height of a TB when using the Eibach springs as well. If you go any higher, the ride gets pretty harsh unless you have an aftermarket front bumper and winch(too stiff). The Pro Truck Lift Stage 2 and 2r are adjustable as well, with the 2R having remote reservoirs.

So much info out there. Now I'm seeing more of the Blisteins are rough if you max out the front height like the other poster said.

ICON makes a 1.5-3.5 inch lift that gets you leveled out. Also check out these guy's Instagram and YouTube channel they get into each shock out there and try them all on their own trucks and give their opinions on ride quality.

I know that cost always plays a factor in upgrades. I swapped out the rancho's for Kings. I'd personally stay away from the 5100 as the ride is very harsh. So harsh infact it used to set off my dash cam crash sensor when traveling high speed offroad. There are several options that will not break the bank, A friend of mine is running the Rough Country and he loves it. Explore your options.

Have you had any issues with the Eibachs? Shock Surplus did not recommend any Eibachs for the TB since there's not a specific fitment for it; only for non-TB models. Spoke with a rep from Eibach and he stated they were only tested on an AT-4 with the Stage 1 setup. The bottom circlip on the front struts led to a small drop in height from stock. At the 2nd circlip they noted rubbing on the UCA. The Stage 2 was not tested at all so they do not know if it would even work.

The suspensions are the same mounting locations, brackets, etc. so the Eibachs are a "specific fitment". The only difference in the suspension up front is a longer shock on the TB. Eibach is simply providing you their longer shocks and spring setup to replace whatever the factory provided.
As far as durability is concerned, I now have over 80k miles on this suspension and it still feels great, 10X better than factory. I have a second set of the Eibach shocks in storage for when these wear out, but they haven't worn out yet and still feel great.

Which circlip setting do you have it at up front? Did you notice the stated drop that Eibach spoke about? Or did it maintain the factory height/rake?

I ended up getting spending money on tires instead. Got the 34 inch Ultraterrains. Surprisingly they didn't rub at all and it helped the ride quality. Not perfect, but enough to make me happy. Not to mention I keep reading that Blisteins make the ride quality worse and I don't want to pay $1000+ for something that might be better. At this point, I'm fine with it.

I followed the link but it does not list the Trail Boss as fit?

For the short answer, skip to the bottom paragraph. To understand the answer, read from the top.

The TB and Z71's share the same mounting brackets and kinetic suspension components (UCA's, LCA's, sway bar and springs). The only difference, kinetic component specific, between Z71 and TB is the front shocks. That being the case, the suspension components are the same and interchangeable, and what works on one will work on the other. All you have to keep in mind is that a 2" lift for a non-TB puts you right at stock TB height, but with arguably better components as long as you stick with name brands. Basically, any lift kit for a GM or GMC 4x4, Z71(X31), or TB(AT4) will directly mount up to all of the various GM 4x4 models minus the ZR2, with no issues and be interchangeable between the models.

An aftermarket manufacturers 4" lift for a standard 4x4, or Z71 will be re-badged as a 2" lift for a TB owner, but they are the same exact kit and all of the components for the two "different" kits will be identical.

That being said, mine is not a TB, it's a lifted Z71 with a 2" lift. I have my Eibachs set 1 clip from the highest ride height, combined with the Eibach springs, and mine sits right at stock TB height since I don't want to go any higher. After break-in/settle, there is less than a 1/16" difference between my truck and my neighbor's stock Trail Boss on the front. I didn't like the rake of the TB so I put a slightly smaller set of blocks (1.5" vs 2") in the rear to level it out.

It doesn't list the TB because the 2" lift would put the TB back at approximate stock ride height since the TB comes from the factory with an approximate 2" lift to begin with. Technically, it would not be a "lift", just a substantially better ride at stock height.

Sorry confused. I understand the TB comes with a 2 from the factory. Is the truck you put them on not a TB?
