Preventing Lifter Failire

correct, turn off that selection...they system will then give you the option to download or decline.

otherwise, it can happen in the back ground without knowing,

i had 500 miles on my truck, started and moved 20 ft during a wash one day...hopped in to move again...and it BRICKED itself. Had no idea it was doing an update...that update was corrupted by my trying to start and smoked all comms within the truck.

7 days later, GM flew in a specialist and every module was on a bench being replaced and flashed to the VIN.

I know with me, I went with having my ECM and TCM unlocked so I could do actual tuning in addition to disabling the DFM and Auto Stop/Start. So, that is my rationale for spending the money.
That makes sense, your goal wasn’t to just shut the DFM down.

thank you for your know how. I would like some help on turning the OTA off .
I went to my settings and found the notification on updates . it had a green check mark on , is that the one you would turn off so they can't send an OTA without me being notified ? last time they sent me a notice that it was available when ever I needed to install and I did the install now box.
since I'm planning on installing a Range RA007 do I need to remove the green check box to off or just leave it alone and not ever have them install it ,or remove range and install the OTA update

sorry for so many questions but kinda confused.
Another thing I do recommend is whenever you do, if ever, decide to accept any OTA updates or go to a dealership, I would be sure to disconnect the module. When I was still using the Range module, I made the mistake of not removing it before downloading an OTA update. That update corrupted or rewrote something in the ECM because after the update, the Range DFM Disabler no longer worked.
