Trail Boss's on the Beach pic's.

Found a Picture of one of the signs when entering the beach area in Cape Hatteras (Outer Banks).
Clearly states Tires less than 20 PSI - I has no issues when running 27 PSI.

The irony is, the sign is in the sand where you need the lower psi. This is as bad as California with its freeway information signs where the LANE ENDS sign is posted after the lane ended. Telling people to air down should happen before they're on the sand.

The picture is a little misleading, it is at the edge of the sand and parking / air down area.
It just looks like part of the beach as the wind blows the sand around a lot, they periodically use a front end loader to clear the parking area as well as the roads.

I use to live in Chesapeake, VA. I've been to Corolla, NC and driven the beach road as far as it'll go. Even seen the entrance when it was flooded from heavy rain. If you didn't air down at the park a little ways down the road then you were going to piss off several people behind you that were waiting.

I once took my wife's Chevy Traverse on the beach road. Thankfully it had AWD. I do miss going to Corolla. I wish there was a Duck Donuts near me, too. I'm now in Pensacola, FL.

Went to Assateague Island in Maryland this weekend. Beach driving was awesome.
Ranger station stated that the sand is softer/finer then Outer Banks and I should drop air down to at least 20 PSI.
I took their advice (dropped to 20 PSI) and can I confirm, the sand is softer/finer. Never had an issue crossing over tracks and into fresh sand.
During the during day - truck showed outside temp of 101. Started in High range and soon found myself in low range due to trans temps 200+ and climbing.
Wild horses were all over including the beach.

Took another trip to Assateague Island in Maryland. Dropped air down to 25 PSI. No issues. For fun, after airing up to 41 PSI I hit the beach again.. What a difference, truck wanted to dig dow and needed more throttle to move, needless to say, I quickly turned around and exited the beach area.
