Upper Control Arms Suggestions

FACTORY A arms are aluminum. LOTS of vehicles use ALUMINUM suspension parts. Check out the current Ram 1500 A arms. They are PLASTIC! With some metal at the attachment points!!

Factory stuff seems to be junk on these trucks...wish i wouldve done some homework before i threw away about $65k...everything is suspect now ...including the fucking shitty paint...

Hdpe ...its stronger than steel in certain applications . ..not sure id want it for ucas...but each to their own...i prefer durability and that =s fucking chrome moly steel.
can you show us a failed ARM ? i am not totally up to speed with how many ARMS have failed....i dont hear of many.

if we want to be very clear on what most claim are control arm failures...it is typically the BALLJOINT failing...not the arm.

and in a lot of those cases, it is a poorly modified vehicle that most likely inflicted the cause.., it is called PAY TO PLAY...

GOOD, CHEAP, FAST....what do you want ? I always giggle when people ask "what is the cheapest" way to level or lift my vehicle. is this really the area you want to go cheap on...?

The same...I have not heard of control arm failures, but I'm sure it happens sometimes with hard use, but when I read about plastic arms, I about shit! Anyhow, as you stated, you PAY TO PLAY! I know with my setup, I want it to withstand the rigors of abuse while off- roading so I did not resort to anything cheap on my rig. Really, the only thing left I would want [or need] to do will be a complete mechanical DFM delete (i.e., replace the collapsible lifters with non-collapsible, change out camshaft, etc.) and complete an ECM/TCM tune.

I mean ball joint bolts snapping...not unheard of ever but totally should not happen...every bolt on the suspension should be 3/4" or better...ht so its tough not hard and btittle or so soft it sheers right off...personally i think they need a 30 yr commercial construction worker to oversee the fucking engineering and neckstomp the ceo and board...i have more faith in my 30yr old 350turbo than the new 10speed...that thing feels like it could come apart anyday and my trucks only a year old

Thats the newest one ive seen

I think the bilsteins are steel could be wrong they were offered in a package when i got the 6112s and 5160s.....always wondered y...just assumed it was for jacking your truck up more than factory....didnt pay attention that chevy threw on aluminum ucas...but whatever.

So still steel wishbone in injected hdpe casting...interesting ...30+ yrs ago i was on a 14" hdpe piping job and saw a double 20' pipe welded together and pulled through a concrete culvert barely the id of hdpe pipe drilled holes in the ends of the pipe and after strapping pulled it thru in about a half an hour with a bulldozer...welds got caught up in it but went thur and held together i was impressed

I agree with everything you said especially since our rigs cost as much as a fuckin' mortgage! But, yes, I have heard of ball joints/bolts failing especially from hard use and that is expected depending on the hard rigorous usage. I believe there is more and more greed with the mindset of the CEOs of the vehicle manufacturers and whatever they can do to save a $, they will do it! They are in the business of making money, so they don't want our vehicle to last hundreds of thousands of miles. It is real bullshit this is happening. The latest when the AFM began decades ago and now with the DFM, it is the problem with destroying engines and transmissions. So much is wrong with these manufacturers dictating what is good or bad with what to do with a vehicle (i.e., oil viscosity, maintenance issues, C.A.F.E. regulations). It is all fucked up what these CEOs have agreed to do with the engineering and manufacturing of vehicles. We as consumers should not have to "cross our fingers" in hopes that nothing will happen to our "mortgage payment"! I know this issue is not inclusive with ONLY GM, there are also problems with other vehicle makes. Anyhow, I only wish GM and other vehicle manufacturers would take pride in developing vehicles worth the price tag!
