Hey folks have a few questions regarding running boards. I called rough country and a few other companies and they say that their running boards will not fit a trail boss custom. What is the reasoning it will fit a trail boss but not a trail boss custom? Also I know there is a thread of running boards here but I’m looking at the following ones but open to other input and ideas:

N-FAB NERF STEP RS SYSTEM

ONINE Drop Steps Custom Fit

There was another one that I cannot think of. It was something like the dominator d6

Any help and input would be great as to why running boards won’t work on a custom

Looking up both the NFab and Go Rhino D6 from their respective websites, neither ask for trim information when confirming fit. It shouldn’t matter. There are individuals on this site that have Custom trail boss’ and have running boards.

All trucks have the same nutserts already in place in the floor of the cab once you remove the plastic caps. You just need to buy the right cab size, crew or double cab.

Interesting. They mentioned about the custom having a body kit of some sort. I can honestly say I’ve never heard of a body kit on a trail boss. It’s been stressing me out.

Um what???? NO Silverado version has any kind of body kit.

Go Rhino D6 as stated above, are a rock slider style running board that are really nice and tucked in. I'd contact them about fit.

The answer is there are idiots everywhere. I had the Dominator D6 running boards for a year before switching to the GM high clearance running boards. Here are some pictures.

Hope that helps. 🤙

Im curious why you switched away from the D6?
Mostly because they are sprayed with LineX and my kids don’t slip on them even when wet. Plus I like how they fit tighter to the truck and say Silverado on them. It’s a nice touch. They also provide more protection from rocks kicking up.

I should also mention that the installation for either set of running boards are easy to do by yourself with wrenches, no need to pay for installation. With that said I much prefer the design of the GM boards and brackets… it’s solid. Hope this helps.

Got any underside pics of the GM boards and brackets? I haven't found any installed on dealer lots to see how the brackets tuck up or hang down below the boards and wrap under the cab to mount to the floor.

Here’s the only pic I have of the brackets… just out of town at the moment.
