Would You Buy The Same Truck Again?

I’m not qualified to answer this question, although it is quite compelling. I’m interested to see what you folks with longer term ownership have to say. I will offer this, and I’ve only had the truck for three weeks (2024, 6.2), but I’m beginning to hear small rattles from various areas in the interior which are driving me nuts. I wasn’t expecting it so quickly. I still love it and the new hasn’t worn off, I just hope it doesn’t jiggle like a cheap AR-15 in a couple of months. I’ll stay tuned for more responses.
Cheap AR-15s can always be fixed. I've never bought an AR-15 off the shelf. I have about 2 dozen ARs (15s and 10s) and they are all built differently by me. Some are even shotguns. I started from stripped lowers. Ironically, trucks and ARs have something in common -- their rattles can be fixed if you're willing to take the time to chase them down, and customized for individuality.

I quoted this because it's a great partner to my story - I would buy the exact same truck again (literally - not a refresh, i'd go find another super clean low-mile pre-refresh truck)...and not because I think the Silverado is fantastic...I have lots of gripes and overall find myself disappointed...but because everything else is worse.

The ZR2 was third on my list when I went shopping for trucks. Ram and Nissan were ruled out because both are built by absolute dumpster-fire companies. My JLU is the last FCA vehicle I will ever own. Seriously don't even go near them, you will regret it. The Raptor and Tundra TRD Pro were high on my list but the Raptor was not available at any price when buying time came (Ford wasn't building them). Furthermore, mid to low trim F150s are SUPER cheap feeling, and I wasn't about to pay $70k+ for an F150 that wasn't a Raptor. The new Tundra looked so good on paper but feels, and is built like, a giant Chinese-plastic toy. Really disappointed by Toyota on the Tundra. That brought me to the ZR2 but after reading up and learning about the new electrical architecture in the refresh trucks i'm not going near it. So that made my decision for me. I ended up with a pre-refresh Trail Boss not because I was looking for one, but by process of elimination.

So from my experience, the grass is most definitely NOT greener elsewhere.
I'm very surprised how low grade rental car plastic the interiors have become on the new Toyotas. I had my eye on the new Tacoma for my son, but I think he's getting a Colorado instead. If the interior is going to look cheap, at least price it cheap.

😎 mine don’t rattle because I’ve built them with pretty solid parts. I just don’t want my truck to get the shakes either…

If it did, would it change your decision on whether or not you'd buy your truck again?

I would definitely replace mine with a carbon copy if something happened. Had a 21 TB with the 6.2 and loved everything about it. Got the itch for a refresh interior and went the AT4 / LZ0 route. The way I feel right now I will never have anything other than that combo. It’s perfect for me.

That being said my wife has a Grand Cherokee Limited X with the Hemi. I would replace it with the same thing BUT the morons at Jeep/Ram/Dodge seem to think that V8’s are Christian Conservatives or something, and want them done away with. I’m just one person but for the life of me I can’t figure out why they want to get rid of such a good thing. It will force me to look elsewhere when the time comes to replace her Jeep…and I have no idea where that will be

Yes… I had a 21 LT TB with 5.3L for my current truck with refreshed interior and 6.2L. I love my Heated cloth seats and heated steering wheel. What wish I had…. Mirrors with side traffic detection, front camera, rear and front sensors. I love the look of the 4 inch lift but probably would have done it again…what I do loathe…. The 98mph governor!!!!!

Absolutely love my truck. Have done too much battle with GM in the last three years to possibly do it again. GM does not support the customer or the product.

Blame the EPA for killing the V8, not Stellantis. It's only a matter of time until the same happens to GM.

I think I may have stumbled upon a defeat device for the 98mph limiter for much cheaper than an aftermarket tune. I had the same issue until I installed the Rough Country speedometer calibrator. I'm not sure how it would affect stock tire sizes, but after entering the data for the larger tires I have on my truck I have pushed it to 106 mph with no sign of it hitting an electronic governor. I'm running 285/75r18 on my truck.

Why? I don't get it. Had I not read about it here, i'd never even know it existed.
When you find it it's like slamming into a wall. I first found it passing a semi on a 2 lane highway with oncoming traffic I needed to get out of the way of.

You needed to hit 98mph to pass a semi?! Maybe just...don't do that.

Seriously though my fuel mileage goes off a cliff over 70mph...so I just keep it to 70mph on the highway...hitting 75-78mph on rare occasions for passing or "getting out of the way". Never had any interest whatsoever in going fast on-road in a huge off-road focused truck...that's what fast cars are for.

Save the judgements when you don't know the details. I wasn't pushing for speed. I just went for the pass. I floored it and went. Didn't think I was going that fast, then slammed into "the wall", saw the message on the dash, and then it showed 98 mph. I initially thought I broke the truck. Very relieved when I realized I didn't.

I have the ‘22 refresh LT and I love the truck but mine is a pavement princess so I’ll probably go with a high country next and lift it. I have most of the bells and whistles but I’d like power folding mirrors and power steps and cooled seats. A local dealer had one on their lot that looked great. It was Lakeshore Blue but they had deleted all of the chrome, all black emblems and black steps. You lose the aggressive hood but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to deal with.

Because of my commute I will have to stick with the 3.0 but I’ve already had my truck in for service 5 times with various issues.
