Would You Buy The Same Truck Again?

I do really wish I had a bigger gas tank for towing. Good point.
Larger gas tanks decrease payload and towing capacities. GM needs to make better trucks in this regard. Iirc, the Silverado is about 400 lbs lighter than the F150, but can't seem to give us a bigger gas tank and better towing/payload? Seems like there's something amiss here.

This is also why I opted for a short bed, it offsets the weight of a standard box, but it's a trade off. Longer boxes provide more stable towing experience and more space to tow longer things. However, they reduce maneuverability, add more weight, consumes more fuel, and add a slight premium to the price.

This is true, but I feel like I'd be stopping less times with a larger tank getting 9-10mpg towing. I could be wrong though.

Just curious. If something happened where you need to replace your truck, such as getting totaled in an accident or natural disaster, would you buy your truck again? What would you do differently, such as engine, trim level, etc? If you wouldn't buy it again, what would you replace it with, and why?

I'll go first. No. It's more truck than I need. The initial goal was to buy a travel trailer big enough for the whole family, but COVID and the subsequent inflation priced me out of that. Now that the kids are getting older the prospect of going on family camping/glamping trips is out. That means I soon won't need as big of a trailer, too. I'd downsize to a Canyon AT4X, possibly with all the AEV goodies. I'm not a fan of a turbo 4-cylinder, but everybody except Nissan are going that route. I don't want the Nissan. The Silverado can be difficult to park, especially in places like Southern California where all the parking spots are as small as the Toyota Prius. Parking spots are bigger in Western Florida (aka Lower Alabama), but I move every 3 years and ending up back in a larger city with tiny parking spots is always a possibility. If, and only if, I did opt to go with a Silverado again I'd likely go with the Duramax. The 6.2 has been a lot of fun and I've really enjoyed having it, but I'm at a point in my life where I'm trying to reduce expenses and the cost per dollar for driving the 6.2 is higher than the Duramax.
Only had my 2021 TB 5 weeks (3000 miles). Nice truck, but after owning many HD trucks over the years it would be hard to not go back. Time will tell. Need to squeeze 35’s in these tiny wheel wells. I must admit I do like how it looks, turns, and actually fits into a parking space.

Thank you. My reference to Nissan was in relation to their sticking with a V6 in the Frontier when everybody else is going 4-cylinder turbo. I have no gripes with my current truck, nor GM in general. They aren't perfect, but neither is anybody else. As I said in my initial post, I'd rather have a GMC Canyon. The Silverado is more truck than I need. I'm satisfied with my truck. I just wouldn't buy it again. Hindsight is 20/20.
Three reasons I purchased a 23 Frontier; that V6 was great, the Mercedes Designed trans was great, and it had old time hydraulic steering to allow for a great feel for the road.
My opinion if GM had stuck with their 3.8L V6 vs dropping in a tubro 4; I might have gone with a Colorado or Canyon vs. the Nissan.

Would I replace my current '25 TB with another TB in the future? Depends on what is out in the market in a few years. So far, I like the TB but times can change.

So far I really like my 24 Trail Boss LT. I had not had a Chevy since I bought my first vehicle back in 1989 a 72 Chevy 4x4 thing was beat up and Camo, 😂. Mine has the 5.3 and if I was looking, I would get the same truck and features that I have. I have 10,000 miles and no issues but the Goodyear MT are starting to get loud . Ride fine but will replace with something else when it's time!

If we're being honest, no. Not because I don't like the truck, because I love it. But if my truck was ever totalled out, I would get the ZR2.

Currently have a '19 Custom TB with the 5.3 and 6spd. The 5.3 is strong enough but i don't like the 6spd's. My previous truck was a '15 LTZ with a 6spd and it gave out and my current "snatches" a little from 3rd down to 2nd.
Love my TB but if it were to be replaced i'd go LT with 9spd (or is it 10spd?) for sure.

I had the 6spd in my previous silverado and hated it, I see where you're coming from on that.

i don't know if they're just an old or inferior design or just straight up too weak to go with the 5.3. Either way they need to go somewhere far away. 😂

Had a rental 2500 WT a few months ago whilst my TB in the shop and the difference was way more than i expected! Harsher ride and turning took some getting used to. 😂

I have had numerous trucks in my life. I have to say, out of all of them I really like my 2024 1500 TB 3.0 Duramax the best. It has good power, highest torque except for the V8 Duramax, and gets great fuel mileage. I've only had one very minor issue with it which I believe I turned it off during a data download. Once the download was complete, issue gone.
I would buy again, but would get one with a couple more options...or maybe a loaded ZR2 also with the 3.0 Duramax. 🛻
