Would You Buy The Same Truck Again?

Save the judgements when you don't know the details. I wasn't pushing for speed. I just went for the pass. I floored it and went. Didn't think I was going that fast, then slammed into "the wall", saw the message on the dash, and then it showed 98 mph. I initially thought I broke the truck. Very relieved when I realized I didn't.

I didn't need to know the details...98mph is 28mph over the highest speed limit in America except for like two roads...and regardless of the speed limit, that's a lot of extra speed. I don't need to know anything further.

That said, point taken - but the incident you are referring to is an outlier, you've made clear that you don't intend to do that regularly, so it doesn't seem like the limiter is a problem for you, which was basically my point. Sure it's limiting just to know it's there, but in all practicality, it's meaningless on a lifted, half-ton, off-road focused truck. I may well find myself up against that limiter some day in some really weird situation...but it would seem kinda ridiculous to go through all the trouble and cost to "delete" it (programming and tires that can handle higher speed) for something that happens anywhere from rarely to never. That's what I was getting at with my original comment.

I have the ‘22 refresh LT and I love the truck but mine is a pavement princess so I’ll probably go with a high country next and lift it. I have most of the bells and whistles but I’d like power folding mirrors and power steps and cooled seats. A local dealer had one on their lot that looked great. It was Lakeshore Blue but they had deleted all of the chrome, all black emblems and black steps. You lose the aggressive hood but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to deal with.

Because of my commute I will have to stick with the 3.0 but I’ve already had my truck in for service 5 times with various issues.
I love all black badges on dark blue so much that I did it, and I'm glad that I did

Please stop making false statements. The fastest posted speed limit I'm aware of is 85 mph on I-15 in Utah. There's a few hundred miles where that's the case from south of Spanish Fork to St George. Several other states have 80 mph speed limits. They all have 1 thing in common -- everybody is doing 10+ over the posted speed limit on just about every road in the freaking country. Therefore, hitting the speed limiter is probable of the right situation occurs in the right setting, and I'll bet happens regularly since Utah increased its speed limit to 85 after doing a test and finding a higher speed limit actually saved lives and reduced injuries because of the speed differential between speedersand those who weren't speeding. Yes, you're correct about it being pointless to reach 100+ in a lifted truck, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening. The biggest reason I keep the speed down in my truck is insurance. I don't want the tickets that result in higher premiums.

Here's a list of states maximum speed limits. You'll see a lot more than 2 that have a stored limit greater than 70.

Guys, you don't even want to know how fast mine goes on pavement. hehe! Built for vertical off road.
There's fast and there's quick, and I'd love to hear about both.

LOL you are a funny guy.

The phrase "like two" does not mean EXACTLY TWO. I'm not getting into an argument over semantics. And I don't have to sit here and lecture you about the 'ole "well everyone else was doing it so..." excuse. You're an adult. The speed limiter on your truck is there because it's a very bad idea to go that fast with that truck. You want to go fast, trade your off-road truck for something fast. Don't be like the "brodozer" that thinks he's hot sh1t doing 90 in his lifted F250 on 24" rims with the hitch mounted ballsack swinging on the back. Those guys give us all a bad name.

Let’s go back to discussing firearms!

All I know is that in 1998 I got to see the inside of the Bangor County Prison for doing 101 in a 55 (that was the ME state speed limit at the time). That is where I learned the phrase, “Maine, come on vacation, leave on probation.” I was in my mom’s new station wagon — not a vehicle designed for speed — and she was in the passenger seat reading a gardening or home decor magazine. All I am saying is that I was not hot rodding. At the time my daily driver was a 1986 Toyota FJ62 that shimmied when you crossed 70 MPH and the speed just kind of crept up on us during our five hour highway journey for our summer vacation.

Who knows, maybe a 98 MPH governor would have snapped us out of it. Maybe being under 100 MPH may have made the officer more forgiving. All I am saying is that occasionally these speeds do creep up on us, and as someone who sets his cruise control on highways at 13 MPH over the stated speed limit I get passed by an awful lot of traffic.

Don't get me wrong, I don't disagree. The thing is, we're not young guys driving the only thing we can afford at this point. We're in a forum dedicated to discussing $60k trucks. I would venture to guess that almost all of us have at least another vehicle, if not multiple. I don't intend to come across like an old lady scolding kids for disturbing the peace, but it needs to be said that driving over 90 in these trucks is just dumb...in every way. It annihilates fuel, it's extra hard on the truck, it's dangerous to everyone else on the road, and for what? It's not fun...I mean doing 90+ in my CTS or some other actually fast car IS fun...but in these lifted off-road trucks? It's boring.

So yeah...i'll concede...from time to time we all will have to floor it to get out of the way or get around some idiot, or any manner of other weird situations...I get it. But I the origin of this tangent was the comment about the speed limiter being a major hindrance...and I still don't see how it is.

Side note - I get passed by a lot of traffic on the highway too, even a couple of lifted F250s with ballsacks. This doesn't bother me at all. If I want to get somewhere fast, I take the CTS and set the adaptive cruise at 85 and just relax. If I have to take the Silverado for some reason, I just accept that it's going to take 3 minutes longer to get there.

I also support the return to discussing firearms so i'll shut up now.

Love mine. I had a lifter go bad on me at 11,000 miles. Got it replaced under warranty. I guess the DFM got me there. But Chevrolet fixed and now zero issues. Truck is a ‘22 LT and would absolutely buy another one.

I didn’t, after issues with my ‘21 LT TB, and with my ‘22 LT TB . Took a different route, I do like this, alot . Definitely different from a full size, just don’t need that big of a truck anymore.

I like to think I'm funny. If I'm not funny I'm an a**hole. I'm accept either. People's feelings tend to get hurt when facts are presented that disprove their assumptions. It's not my fault facts hurt their feelings.

"Like two roads" indicates close to or approximately. You're defensive because I PROVED there's way more than that. Beyond that, all you've done is truly on your opinions. The personal best 24.4 mpg for my truck was set with cruise control on 78 mph.

Be mature and avoid the personal attacks. People resort to personal attacks to make themselves feel vindicated after illiciting an emotional response from their opponent when they have nothing more to say and they've been burned with truth. I'm not falling for it, and you should be better than to try it.

I never said the speed limiter was a major hindrance. That one is on you. You started making accusations for nothing.

Btw, I can talk guns all day long. My favorite shotgun that I own is a Tavor TS-12, but nothing beats my ole reliable Remington 870.

Would buy again. Most compliments I have ever had with a vehicle. And I love it. Sand Dune Metallic color is a plus.

Pretty sure there's a loop in Houston that's 85MPH as well...;)

Anyway, I have a heavy foot and like to do 80 on the highway. It's literally the flow of traffic in North Texas and even then, I'm getting passed at times. And I've actually gotten better fuel mileage going 80+MPH than 70MPH. The 6.2 likes to breath and open up!

And back to the original question, yes! I'd buy the exact truck but different color. I bought my 21 used in 22. Couldn't find the LT TrailBoss with a 6.2 for a decent price except for this black one. Lol! Had only 16k miles on it and now just over 40. No complaints. I did add the Fox 2.0 Coil-overs and 295/70r18s back in late January. I had a 2020 RST Shadow Grey Metallic. Loved that color! Lifted it 6"s and immediately regretted it. Traded it off for a 22 Tahoe for my wife.
I may end up giving this truck to my son when he turns 16 but he wants to me to put a Whipple on it first! #metoo🤦‍♂️:ROFLMAO: That or he'll get something else and I'll get a Vette!!

Back to the “Governor “ thing….. I just want to point out I normally do not drive that fast. My average (along with it seems everyone else) on the freeway only is about 75-80mph…. Sometimes, very rarely I like to see that 6.2L kick in… now that I lifted from the factory lift I DO NOT DO THAT ANYMORE… because the truck like my post on this website FLOATS on the road when I hit the gas and go over 70-75 mph🥲…. I just do not like restrictors on speed by the manufacturer … none of my other trucks before this one (Toyota, Nissan) had governors… that was my point… I am in agreement with other comments that you should obey highway speed laws and have low insurance rates and save gas….😳🤔😃
