What's new

2022 5.3L Issue

Yes. I've said this NUMEROUS times on NUMEROUS threads when people post about the Pulsar. There's a guy on YouTube I was following for a while with a 6.2 Trail Boss and had the Pulsar on it and his lifters failed. I can't remember if it was around 8K or 12K miles.
It only seems to reduce the wear on the components of the engine since they aren't closing and opening all the time.

Unless I have the wrong assessment?

Any update from the dealer yet?
Unfortunately, nothing yet. They said they would call when diagnosed. I've checked the my Chevy app a few times to see if it registered but last sync was yesterday morning when the flatbed dropped it off. I'll update for sure when I hear anything.

Purchased this truck brand new in October 2022. Has 2,100 miles on it with no issues until yesterday. Was making a short trip to the store when all the sudden check engine light came on, traction control light came on, front collision light came on, dash said service ESC and then changed to service traction control. When i got up to about 25 mph it felt like i was driving over rumble strips and check engine light started flashing. I'm guessing that was limp mode kicking in ? Looking at the my chevrolet app, i have a warning for emissions system schedule service now. 2 things that i dont know if they matter or not, 99% of the time i remote start the truck. Yesterday i didnt do that so the warm up time was less than normal before pulling out and 2nd, i had a Borla Touring exhaust installed about 2 weeks ago. Anybody experience this ? Any ideas ? Will be calling dealer tomorrow to take it in.View attachment 5838
I have a 2022 refresh with the diesel. 1200 miles. I had the collision avoidance light come one once. I looked in the manual - it says it’s usually a dirty windshield (sensor is behind the rear view mirror - at least I’m assuming it’s there). I cleaned the windshield with the wipers and it turned off and hasn’t come back on. I had to restart the truck to get the light to reset. Only other issue I have had is the transmission speed sensor went out at 156 miles. It went into limp mode for that.

Well guys, here's the update. Dealer didn't call me when it was diagnosed like they said they would so i stopped in today. The service manager mumbled something about a bunch of codes and following troublshooting process to determin i have a failed bank 1 injector. I thought, whew ok. Thats not bad. THEN he followed it up with unfortunately the part is backordered. ALSO we are going to have to pull the transmission to see what is causing the whine but we cant do that until the truck is running properly. My jaw hit the floor and i was about to puke. I told him i never noticed a whine that sounded like it was coming from the transmission. He said the tow truck driver may have mentioned it. I told him your technician must have diagnosed that because the only noise i ever heard was after this all happened and it sounded like it was coming from the back like the e break didnt release all the way. I asked for a loaner, they said they had none. And not none available, just none. He said they had 14 loaners prior to covid and now zip because of the vehicle shortage. So,thats where i'm at. Going to be getting on the phone with GM Nationwide customer service to see if they will get me a rental or something. Uber back and forth to work is getting expensive rather quickly.

I have a contact I used with GM corporate. Let me check and see if I can still find it. They were excellent at getting my truck back to me. If they don’t have a loaner they can and will rent you a vehicle.

That’s the person I dealt with. Send them a detailed email. They will contact you - most likely over the phone. I purchased my truck new sight unseen from a dealership 800 miles away. I got one of the last new Sand Dune diesels. Anyway, they shipped the truck without a second key. They were giving me the run around about getting me a second key. She called that dealer. Within 20 minutes I received a phone call saying my second key was being overnighted. Now that’s not why I originally contacted them. I originally contacted them concerning the speed sensor and limp mode at 156 miles.

Well, just got off the phone with customer service and they said loaner program is independent to each dealer and as far as a rental, they would reimburse me up to $46 a day that must be paid up front by me and then paper work submitted requesting reimbursement. I saw your follow up and going to shoot that person an email.

That sucks. My local dealer offered a loaner or a rental. Seems like they could just bill it to GM since it’s under warranty.

Another short update. I contacted a friend of mine whose son is a gm engineer. I jokingly asked him to call the assembly line and have an injector shipped to me. His sons response was there is a known issue with bank 1 injector failures on the full size pick ups. He also said there has been issues on the same with wiring harnesses that had to be replaced. He also commented that he worked on the 10 speed transmissions and they have been proven to be reliable.

Well, get to put this issue to rest. Final update for anybody interested. Issue was for sure a bank 1 injector failure that i was told by a GM Engineer is a known issue with the full size chevy and gm pickups. After being told injector was backordered, i took to social media and received a reply in minutes from Chevy. They asked for my vin to investigate. With in 5 minutes they replied and gave me a case number and said it has been escalated. Was told i would receive a call the next day from my case rep. Was also asked to only communicate with her so things didnt get confused. I did receive a call on May 5th from case rep, she told me they are trying to locate an injector and they would pay for a rental. She also advised me to tell dealer to do trailer brake recall while they had it. She stated she would call me back on Tuesday May 9th. So, on Tuesday i stopped in dealer to tell them to do trailer break recal which i was told they had already done it the day before. Then he informed me that my injector arrived that morning and the technician was installing it as we spoke. I asked him how it went from backordered a week prior to having it on site. He said he didnt know. That it just showed up and was overnighted from somewhere. Later in the day, my case rep called to see if i was updated by the dealer and filled her in on everything and asked her how they got the part. She explained that when there is a backordered part and a case is opened and escalated, they start looking to see if any dealers have the part and if they are willing to give it up. Luckily a dealer had one , gave it up and overnighted it. I got a call on May 10th that the truck was ready and that there also was NOT an issue with the transmission. Apparently a tech accidently wrote that on my slip. I picked the truck up and everything has been good since. Case rep followed up with me twice since getting truck back and last contact she informed my that gm has credited my gm account with 50,000 points which equals $500. Case is now closed out.

My 2022 Chevy refresh with 5600 miles on it just did this same thing. Supposed to take it to the dealer Monday. Who are your contacts if you don’t mind so hopefully I can get this resolved. Spend this much money on garbage is unacceptable.
