2027 V8 Silverado Models

Okay then idr which motor(s) it was that I’m thinking of that they stopped previously (or maybe it was information coming out about the new motors and I’m miss-remembering). Sorry.

Yeah the tensioner thing blew my mind. Like, why? What was that hurting anyone having the friggin tensioner on there? Saved them maybe like $20 in materials or something to install? Saved them 5 mins of install along the assembly line per day? 🤣
side bar... I dig your signature there my friend. conversation about mental health should be as easy as talking about a sprained ankle...and it isn't, yet. one more person lost is too many. thanks for putting yourself out there. 🤙

I'm not bothered by the lack of a dipstick... We have a BMW x5 and it's super easy to scroll through and check the oil level and many other things. I can remember some of the mechanics I worked with long ago being upset that distributors were going away and we wouldn't be able to check/adjust/modify the ignition timing while doing a service. Turns out the computers are pretty accurate! :ROFLMAO:. What absolutely terrifies me is being passed while going 70mph on the freeway by a Tesla who's driver is reading a book or outright asleep in the drivers seat... I've seen both.

I keep bringing up removing the tensioner pulley because I just changed the serpentine belt on my 5.3 today and what should’ve/could’ve been a 5 minute job turned into a fiasco cause I (self admitted dumbass) didn’t have the proper 24 mm socket to put on the crank pulley to turn everything, using the $9 tool to get the belt to stretch over the crank pulley and everything line up.

Yes, I should’ve checked I had the right socket before cutting off the old belt (again, self admitted dumbass) but if it still had a tensioner it would’ve indeed taken 5 minutes to do this without having to buy a new socket.

I understand GM saved a lot of money by removing this as someone pointed out (and that math is actually crazy so I get it) but we as the consumers having to deal with this annoyance or pay for a half hour or so of labor for a shop/stealership to do it absolutely sucks.

I guess now I know for next time and to be fair if I had the right socket (and dropped the front air dam to begin with) I could’ve gotten done a lot faster…so I’m just bitching to bitch. Nothing will change at GM. Was just frustrated today lmao
