AFM/DFM disable

The module is not in an ideal location compared to how they used to be plugged into the OBDII port under the dash. Also it is outside the vehicle and exposed to the elements, def not a plus by any means. Just saying not sure why they changed it for the worse. Either way, because of this I purchased the OBD Link version yesterday for $134 and it plugs in under the dash and also has scan tool capabilities. Hope it works as advertised, seems so from the reviews.

Carbyte is the best! Works perfect and multi use!

Has anyone tried disabling it with HP Tuners? I know on my 6.2 2017 Camaro, it’s a simple toggle (as the manual 1LE cars don’t run it).

HP tuners is an Option...but the 22.5 UP variants cost nearly 3K to properly tune...that would be ECM / TCM / Tune

It's the most expensive way to do it. But yeah, it works.

Mine has been working flawlessly for the past couple of years. Just pull it out whenever taking it to the dealership.

Will this work on a 2026 TB with the 5.3 liter engine?

Yes it does work on 2026 models with the 5.3. I put the range unit that plugs in under the wheel well a month ago and it is working great.

I’m not referencing the one that goes under the wheel well. Referencing the Carbyte brand item that Midnight TB posted about. Plugs into the OBDII port under the dash. Like my Range afm disabler does in my Camaro.

Thx. Forgot the whole ECM swap/locked thing in later years

I installed the range RA 007 on my 2022.5 Silverado trail boss refresh with the 6.2 l. It is easily installed can be done in less than 10 minutes. And that includes removing the negative terminal harness from the battery first and a couple T15 screws on the wheel liner. So I keep a 10 mm and a T15 in my truck. In case of any breakdown and towing to the dealership needs to happen. I can have it removed in less than 10 minutes. My question though is do I need to remove this prior to emissions testing here in Missouri, I've read conflicting information online.

I was going to get this for my 2024 thinking it was going to be a simple OBD2 plug in module like prior years, but no. This one you have to take off the drivers wheel and wheel well liner to access the computer then unlatch the harnesses and put this module inline. This turned me off because say my truck dies on me while driving, i am not going to be able to remove this device prior to the tow truck showing up to take the truck to the dealer and they will prob try to void my warranty if they find it.
That install method would make me hesitate too. Pulling the wheel and liner just to add a module seems like a lot for something that used to be a quick plug-in. One of the big benefits of an obd2 afm disabler was always the convenience—plug it in, disable AFM, and unplug it anytime. With an inline harness setup, that quick removal option basically disappears.

Neither the front drivers wheel or the wheel liner needs to be removed, turn the wheels to the left , disconnect the negative battery terminal, unscrew a handful of the T15 on the front lower part of wheel liner, plug in the dfm at the harness. Literally 10 minutes. I've read that even disconnecting the negative terminal is up for debate. I've had zero issues, love having 8 cyl all the time in my 6.2L, and love the no more auto start stop bs.

Yeah, this is the issue with the refreshed trucks. GM apparently changed things up with the location moved from the OBD-II port to the ECM. I think everything since the Global B electronic architecture change on the refreshed vehicles have made things more difficult for modifications, etc.

Good stuff! I have the Range Technology module and I have had no issues at all so far.

has anyone running a disabler tried any MPG trials, using D and 9th gear...

most of us run close to 35" tire...SOME even a 37  ...i have ran in 9th since new with the 32" tire unless doing 80 plus.
now with the 47, i mostly run 8th...but my point is, i prefer the mileage and overall feel of the truck staying out of 10th.

so for me, why spend the coin on a fooler....it it matters that much...get the TCM tuned. i have a quote for 900$ to custom tune the TCM. that is remove TCM, send to HP for unlock, reinstall and tune....

debating on that or just doing both ECM/TCM for 3K$.
