Behind Grill LED Light Bar

This looks great. Which RC model is this? The "Curved Cool White DRL" one or the base LED one? Did you just drill/bolt thru the bumper to mount? Thanks!
Here are links on what I did and the install:

Yes I drilled two holes in the bumper. If you scroll down after the second link I think there is more details:

I love the set up. It works very well. I would never do a behind grill install. The bar has DRL and super bright flood and spot pattern.

Jmzvet And jamesholyfield24.

I am interested in your thoughts in potentially putting the 30” below behind my grill and how they line up with the open slots in the grill. I plan to fabricate brackets and line it up height wise.

i actually have my grill off right now to install the RC twin LEDs higher up in the grill but want some Amber some where That will be functional. wish there was a bracket used like those have that fits in cut grill that makes something lower look finished. If needed I may replace the OEM LED Driving Lights with Diode Dynamics SS3 kit in Amber and for my Silverado 2500 lightbar switch the reflectors all to white if needed later on this light bar.
Great choice going with a 30in LED lightbar behind the grille on your Chevrolet Colorado! A few of us have done similar setups and it gives a really clean look without the wind noise you get from roof mounts. Since those specific brackets are no longer available, your best options are to check out universally fitting LED lightbar brackets on Amazon or eBay, most are adjustable and work perfectly for grille mounts. You could also visit a local metal fabrication shop and have custom brackets made cheaply. Some Colorado owners also use the existing grille frame mounting points with simple L brackets from a hardware store. Works great!

I have to drive about 3-4 miles at 430am on a old winding narrow semi rural road before I get to the freeway. The extra lighting is really helpful (y).

Holy blocking air ...batman...u got enough lite
Only the bottom light bar is blocking any air flow. The middle lights are in the grill made by Rough Country and aren't open anyways. The amber lights at the top are just marker lights but there's no airflow up there.

Thanks Getgone. That’s what I meant to say😎.

How tall is the light bar anyways? 2-3" maybe? Grill shutters shut off air flow whenever the truck tells them to anyways.

I mounted a dual row 30 inch RC to my bumper. Fits perfect and I don't loose light because its not covered up. There are automatic louvers behind the grill.

Hey Steve,

I just got a 2026 TB Custom and am wondering if I can do what you did. How much flat or near flat space is there on the top of your bumper and also did you drill through the steel?

Thanks,

Bud
