BOSE Premium Sound, Really?

Spoke with the dealer service department and they said that's how they are coming now without the sub. They said that they just install larger door speakers to get around having to put a sub in. Then I asked about what it would cost to have a factory sub put in and he said that I couldn't due to the BOSE amplifier that is installed already. I would have to go aftermarket in order to add a sub. Oh well. Other than that he did offer me to swing by and have them check the settings and if there was something wrong that they would fix it.

Yes this goes back to the issue that caused me to go looking for a pre-refresh truck instead of a new 2023. Modding ANYTHING AT ALL on the refresh trucks requires programming, and as of late last year and early this year, when I was shopping, there was no timeline on when doing that would be possible. The new architecture uses private key encryption so each module needs to be cracked individually each time it is flashed. So as far as I know, it's not even possible to swap amps at this time. You MIGHT be able to take the high level outputs from the factory amp and run them into a Maestro or some other kind of processor, then use that to input into an aftermarket amp and speakers...but that kind of setup rarely results in good sound.

Sucks to learn about this subwoofer situation but it's yet another thing that makes me happy I didn't buy the refresh truck.

Mine does, yes. Maybe that's why I'm good. Was unaware that it came any other way.
Also, my mirrors inside and out rattle with the bass bumps on my BOSE system. Mine def has the sub under the console.

I have a 2023 LT Trail boss, I agree the sound system is just ok, nothing special. My 2012 alpine is much better.

And to think we paid more this year than others did previous years for a lesser option. Hopefully they did not skimp on anything else.

Wow, that is crazy. Maybe that is why I have read that people have not been happy in the refreshed trucks regarding the audio.

Did GM save $50 by deleting the sub then add $5K to the price 😬

My refresh has the sub and I’m disappointed in it - lol
But I did add the aftermarket sub by Kicker and it improved it to the level one would expect from the factory.

This is a very nasty trend that's happening across the industry - a pronounced "de-contenting" of vehicles. I've already mentioned that I went shopping for a 2023 and ended up with a 2021 because other than the beautiful new interior, the refresh truck is a step back in almost every other way. I also ended up buying one of the very last 2019 CTS's after planning to buy a CT5 because the CT5 is so disappointing it really doesn't deserve the Cadillac badge. It's not just GM either - I also have a 2021 Wrangler...and the Wrangler forums are abuzz about the 2024 refresh because while Jeep added some first-ever features - like a fully integrated 12" infotainment screen and all-digital instrument cluster, power seats, and factory winch packages...they also pushed most must-have features up to only the top trims...those are $70k+ Jeeps. Worst of all they completely neglected to fix several, long-running, glaring issues with the JL platform that we all assumed would be addressed with the refresh.

In every case the newer vehicles are taking big steps back in features and/or quality while taking big steps UP in price.

This makes me wonder if mine has the sub in it. The window sticker says "Bose Premium Sound System" but it sure doesn't sound very premium. The system in our 2023 z71 Tahoe is 10x better than the one in my 22 TB refresh.

Is that under console sub supposed to come with the "Bose Premium Sound System" option? I really don't want to tear apart the console to look for it to see if it's there.

How can you tell you have the factory sub?

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. How can I tell if there is one? Not without tearing at the center console.
