Dfm/auto start and stop disabler for 2022 refreshed???

I installed the Range Tech Refresh version on my 5.3 powered 24 LT.
plug and play. Nothing to set. Disabled both irritants

It’s very easy for an older guy with a bad back to install. Solid connection with audible click when it locks in. As for the exposure to the elements, it’s no more exposed than the entire control unit it plugs into.

The rest is drive and see how it works long term.
I just got mine yesterday and popped it right in! Truck drives so much smoother and I was getting better gas mileage! 24 TB LT 5.3 V8

Which is better, carbyte or range, for the Dfm disable and and auto/stop?

I purchased the carbyte last week and one MAJOR difference you need to be aware of before you purchase, the carbyte doesn't active until 40mph then is active the rest of your drive at all speeds. Meanwhile, the range technology activates upon startup (from what their customer service stated). I do a lot of in-town driving under 30mph so half the time I use my truck it won't be disabling anything. Good product and great customer service, shame they couldn't crack that 40mph issue with their module. That being said, I got a refund for my carbyte (painless, they 100% understood) and will be buying the range module today.

Wow, thanks for the research, very helpful.

To add some additional info to this thread, i am now an owner of Carbyte and Range for my 2024 TB. I have had a chance to fully test both modules and here are the results:

Carbyte
Pros:
1. Uses OBDII port, super easy install and module will stay out of the elements
2. Completely disables AFM on acceleration and deceleration when active.
3. Is also a scan tool to check/erase codes via bluetooth if you download their app.
4. Price, about $100 cheaper.
Cons:
1. The module doesn't deactivate the AFM or disable auto start/stop until you hit 40mph for a few seconds then is good the rest of the drive.

Range
Pros:
1. Disables auto start/stop and AFM at startup, no need to hit 40mph.
Cons:
1. Install location is behind the wheel well exposed to the elements and a little more complicated of an install, but still easy.
2. Does not disable AFM on deceleration, you still hear the AFM messing around (i have an exhaust and clear as day) and causes some rough transmission engagements from deceleration to acceleration.
3. No scan tool feature.
4. Price, about $100 more expensive.

With that all being said, i might try to use them both and see what happens? I just want something that disables AFM 100% of the time and neither of these modules do that, very annoying.

My Carbyte deactivates DFM AND Autostop as soon as I start my truck. No need to get up to 40 MPH to activate it but if you do that still wouldn't be a show stopper for me. It's better in every way over the Range, in my opinion!

Some good news, they both work together. So over 40mph I'm 100% AFM disabled and under 40 i am AFM disabled on all acceleration situations only until i hit 40 😂 I hate technology sometimes.

Looking at range technology web site for the ra007, which is the module we’re talking about, there is a new note addressing the cylinder deactivation while coasting. That note I believe was not there last week. Interesting in the note it explains why they kept dfm active while coasting.

Thanks for pointing that out, interesting for sure. Funny thing is, I feel like the truck is harder to stop with the AFM enabled as it holds the gears longer lol. Much smoother stop with the Carbyte module enabled which deactivates AFM with zero throttle input. Total opposite of what they are saying, go figure. As for gas mileage, i personally don't really care so not paying attention to that at the moment.

I just looked today and there is now a CarByte app on Android!

Since installing the CarByte, I've yet to have my truck auto-stop at a red light, so can't verify if the 40mph is required for 2023 Chevy Trailboss LT 6.2L to disable. I will say though the light on the button on the dash for Auto-Stop/Start is still lit up, so looks like CarByte disables the feature, but not the button light itself.

Truck feels a lot smoother driving and with a borla exhaust I hear a lot less noises when slowing down/down shifting which I'm assuming relates to the AFM disable.

Well worth the purchase.

I know right, plus has the added feature of scanning and investigating problems and for 100 bucks cheaper than the Range.

I’m thinking of trying the same thing. Are you still using them together, playing nice with each other?

I've had the Range Tech installed for a while now.

Honestly haven't noticed any negative changes in the 2024 Trail Boss/5.3 combo.
I don't even think about it now,.I just get in and go.

Thinking about it at this moment, remembering to remove it before taking it in for service may be my only concern.
