Led Headlight Bulb upgrade?

most will never know or look....just make the proper adjustment to keep from blinding on coming traffic...

the LED bulbs, same with HID, over power the reflectors and the bulbs filament usually is not placed correctly for the reflectors and cause a lot of scatter

Hello All,

Im rocking the 2023 chevy trailboss custom. Wow these factory lights are terrible, and I have no suitable replacements. I have looked into the lasfit lights but upon reading i see that they are not DOT /SAE certified. Anyone have any issues or no the liability if an accident happens with them or if anyone has gotten any tickets?
Last time I got LEDs from The Retrofit Source a law had passed that no one is allowed to market LEDs for road use because non, other than factory have been DOT certified.

This is mainly due to so many cheap maker's out there are not engineering them correctly and have little to no quality control.

That's not to say they can't be used or sold. They simply can't advertise to be used on a public road/highway.

I will be getting the GTR Ultras. Pricey but quality made with the proper qualitly controll being performed.

Just know. Snow and ice will not melt off the housing as they don't generate the heat the hallogens do.

Anti flicker modules are always a solid idea to get.

Call the company I mentioned above and ask them.

I went ahead and installed morimoto 2stroke 3.0 in my 2021 custom trailboss. Hard to install with limited space. Super bright lights. I haven’t had any electrical issues …… yet.
I have the same lights and have had no issues. Not as bright as the HIDs i started with but the HIDs had huge issues with the day time running lights and the lower power and they would just turn off at random times (Very bad at night to suddenly loose your lights). So went with the LEDs

Anyone with a 2025 Trail Boss LT change their lights?
Everything I look at on Amazon tells me the same thing. "This does not fit".

Get with The Retrofit Source. They have them.

Thanks I will look into that.

New to the Group so please be gentle....
I am going to switch to the LED's and appreciate all the info that you all have provided but there in a question I was hoping someone could answer for me?
Did anyone need the antiflicker adapters that are offered? I am leaning to the GTR Lighting Ultra Series 2 or the S-V.4 and the extra cost for the antiflicker device is another $55+ so if it is not needed it will be $$$ that I can save?
Are the OEM headlamp assemblies that are on the 2021 Custom Trail Boss a Reflector or a Projector type of headlamp? I was doing research into the LED bulbs and depending on the style of the headlamps the ratings for the bulbs Lumens are drastically different.
Also Does anyone have the size of the Dust caps off hand?
Any info would be appreciated. here is more options check it out truckelectrics.com
Hello. Which LED bulbs are you guys that have gone this route using and are there any to stay away from? Headlight Revolution and F150LED are pretty much the 2 I really hear anyone talking about. I will upgrade my fog bulbs as well to LED so interested in hearing on those as well. Im not looking to get the $2k LED complete light swap or HID etc. I know some will swear if you use LED in the stock housing that unicorns will cry and there will be all out nuclear war. But with quality LED bulbs and proper aiming , I am willing to take that chance.

it is all about filament placement, the older FULL BULB HID swap was a joke, they scattered horribly. with newer design and tech actually paying attention to surround design, placement of the filament is key to proper reflection and directing of the light output.

The compatibility confusion is common because some Trail Boss trims have separate high and low beam bulbs while others differ, so pop your hood and confirm your bulb size before ordering. Most are H11 low beam and 9005 high beam. On the Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0, the compatibility issues people report are usually related to the DRL function, not the low beam itself, and some need a PWM adapter to sort it out. If you want truly plug and play with no headaches, the Sealight S7S H11 is Canbus ready out of the box and fits the 2021 Trail Boss without issue. The Morimoto is the better bulb for beam quality but the Sealight gets you there without the compatibility guesswork.
