Pulsar LT preventing lifter failure?

Hello all again! Topic is what hand held tuners have y’all used or prefer????

I’ve researched the pulsar and hand held tuners and come to find out for the price less than pulsar I can get the Same as pulsar plus a tune for the truck! There are many tuners but from what I’ve seen the only thing that pops up for my 2022 trail boss custom is the pulsar?? I want a tuner! Help please!! Thanks guys!!

Now immediately after installing Pulsar I get a cold start tapping for about 20 seconds sounds like lifters not pumping up. Anyone else experience this? Engine was totally quiet prior to install. Haven’t tried enabling DFM again with Pulsar installed - I am going to try that next and if it is quiet again may be removing it.

UPDATE- tried cold start with DFM active and same ticking present. Found several TSB/PIPs out there from GM on cold start or idle ticking from DI fuel pump. As with most people, just not used to these noisy new motors.

The Pulsar is a fun, gas-eating toy! I like that I can pass someone and not have the truck stop accelerating at 98mph! I turned DFM back on, as well as auto-stop, and put the throttle response back to stock. I got back 2-3mpg!

63k on my 6.2 2021. Put the Pulsar on at 6k. Havent looked back. DFM, Speed Limiter and throttle response (especiallly coupled with sport mode) is the best! Love it. Got into a quarky state twice. Disconnect/reconnect the negative terminal cleared it up 18 highway, 14-15 city.

Getting the Pulsar JUST for disabling DFM to try to prevent lifter failure is a waste. If you got a truck with a build date within the bad lifter timeframe, nothing is going to help you, your lifters will fail no matter what you do. Just be thankful that it's going to happen within your warranty period. Otherwise, you're in the same boat as every single GM V8 built since 2008 cause we all have the same lifters. We also know that disabling the system doesn't stop the failures - the Range AFM disablers didn't save us on the older trucks, so the Pulsar isn't going to save us on the newer trucks. The thing is, lifter failure outside of the known bad lifter timeframe is not real common, and doesn't happen until pretty high mileage. I had a 2010 Tahoe with over 200k on it with original lifters and AFM active its entire life. It's still going strong with it's new owner to this day.

That said, if you'd like to make use of the Pulsar's other features in addition to disabling DFM, then by all means go for it.

2020 Trail Boss w/ 6.2 @ 50k miles and no Pulsar. So far no issues. Somebody has to be the control test, otherwise we wouldn't know the truth about whether or not the Pulsar works.

I bought my '21 used with 26k on the odo. What's the easiest way to find the build date? (may be a dumb question)

Should be two stickers in drivers side lower right door pillar. At least where mine are. Ones trailering info and the other has VIN info along with build date.

Only tire pressure sticker. I'll do some more research and see if I can find build date, thanks anyway.

Check the drivers door itself

I installed the Pulsar on my 2020 Trail Boss when it had 5k on the odometer. Shut off the DFM and auto start/Stop crap. Just hit 30,000 miles. No issues. I also added catch can.

bought my 21 trail boss custom with 46,000 on it. at 52000 the engine let go of all rotating assembly bearings. )Cam, con rod, and mains had damage) When the dealer allowed me to inspect the damage, i found delamination in the cam bearings, and cavitation in the mains. Oil level was full, and very clean. Build date of 07/21.
Waited 5 weeks to get new engine, cooler lines and radiator assm.
Drove the truck with new engine 1 mile down the road to a secluded spot, disconnected battery, and installed Pulsar LT piggyback with the CTS3 to monitor accurate oil pressure and temp.
1800miles on the new engine and i am now taking it to the dealer to change the oil.
No complaint yet.
Waited until 1000miles to open up the throttle and the thing runs like a scolded dog.
