What's new

Still waiting for my TB order (submitted in October) to move...

I'm expecting an update from my dealership tomorrow.
Do you all at least agree that it is highly unlikely that an order submitted in October would see no movement in 7 months? ...Doesn't that seem off?
Actually no that doesn't seem off. And I'm just going by personal experience. It was 9 months before GM accepted my order. Feb. 22 ordered, accepted in Nov. 22 .

Hello Trail Boss folks!

Again, I placed my order for a Trail Boss back in early October 2022.
As recently as April 17th, I was told by my dealership guy that my Status was still 1100.
Just yesterday, I checked in - and my sales guy said it is now Status 3000.
I'm excited and hopeful. But a couple things:
His actual reply was "I was told 3000". ...which sounds kinda unsure/questionable. :)
And... is it reasonable that the Status would go from 1100 to 3000 in just a few weeks?

If it is 3000, what does that mean exactly? Should I expect a build date soon or anything like that?

If it is 3000 like your salesman said, order was accepted by GM and sent to production. Pretty much next step should be scheduling for production and VIN. Sounds like your getting closer. Check back with them in a week or so and see if they can give you an order number. If they can give you that, you wont have to bother them for status updates. You can use Chevy's chat feature on the web site.

Hello Trail Boss friends!

I placed my order for a 2023 Sand Dune Metallic 6.2L Trail Boss at my dealership early October 2022.
As far as I know, it is still in Status 1100.
The dealership has gotten numerous Trail Boss trucks. ...They have two on the lot right now. Of course, none in my color.
I'm not sure if they have gotten any 6.2L either. ...Maybe my mistake is that I asked for a 6.2L.

Anyway, I recently learned that my original sales guy is no longer at the dealership. ...But a good thing is that the new sales guy did reach out soon after the original guy left.
He did reassure me that my order was still going to happen.
I'm a little reluctant to believe him. ...Again, my order has been in since October.

Is there a chance that my dealership is just playing a card that a truck matching the one I ordered (or nearly matching) is going to eventually be allocated to them? ...thereby allowing them to sell like a normal "off the lot" sell.
Is there a chance that my dealership hasn't put my order out where Chevy would even see it and grab it?
Is there a downside to a dealership ordering a vehicle for a client - and selling that "ordered" vehicle vs selling one "off the lot"??
I'm just wondering if anything like this is something I should consider is happening.

I welcome thoughts/feedback.
I had a similar experience, it takes the fun out of it. I ordered April '22, built June '22, sat in Mexico until April '23 when it got delivered.

However, at about month 5, so Sept '22, I started looking at local dealers and found on one a lot and went for it. The wait was nonsense.

My suggestion would be to start shopping around, and get your deposit back. Best of luck.

I did something similar-ordered a truck, the dealership found one that had everything I needed and a couple extras (multi-flex, high clearance steps, etc)…they worked with me on price and I got several upgrades at essentially no cost, they got their sale right then and all were happy….had the truck in 8 days vs 8 months

I had a similar experience…I ordered mine in April of 2022, order was accepted/built in May, but then got held at the factory for a chip shortage until it finally moved in October. It was a long wait (and a frustrating one with the dealer I was working with, sadly), but GM stood behind it and gave a rebate for those that had to wait that long for orders that weren’t fulfilled for what felt like forever haha.

Since my dealer wouldn’t get off their butt to go find where the truck was, I called GM, and their rep was super nice and offered to send me weekly email updates about my truck status. It was a tough and long process, but good people made it better, and GM did what they could to help.

Long story short, I understand that feeling of both excitement for your order, but the pain in having to wait with no update.

I posted the following in another thread, but posting it here also:

I won't go into too many details, but I have given up on the Trail Boss. 😢

The 2022 order I placed...resulted in no Trail Boss.
The 2023 order I placed...resulted in no Trail Boss + the color I ordered was discontinued. (...BTW, I had heard months ago that the Sand Dune color was discontinued - which my dealership denied at that time. My dealership didn't relay that info to me until 2 days ago!! It's amazing the info the dealership can get when I ask them to provide me with the order # so that I can check on it myself!!)
Anyway, 2 days ago, I was also told that I need to place order for 2024 - if there's another color I would like (...which there isn't).

I have a hunch that I have to be more upset with my dealership than with Chevy. But who knows?

SO... It's going to be the 2023 Nissan Titan Pro 4X in Baha Storm for me!! ...which I had my eye on anyway as I think it is a handsome truck.
