What's new

Talk me in or out of it- trading my 21 LT for a 24 LT

I love that color and the slight bluish metallic to it in the sun. That pinstripe looks weird the way they started it on the bed instead of on the leading edge of the rear doors where the body line picks up after swooping down on the front doors.

Yeah, the pinstripes will be coming off soon. I have a feelings when it was sold new that was a stupid dealer add on. I am not a fan, but an easy fix lol!

Yeah I bought a 2000 S10 Xtreme brand new and it was on the back lot when I looked at it and just off the delivery truck. It didn't have any stripes and wasn't even prepped yet. When they were filling out the paperwork they had a $75 charge for pinstripes. I was like UHH it doesn't have pinstripes. They had to go and look, then said, Oh, do you WANT them? I was like NO. I did put some pinstripes on myself at one point to change it up.

No red tow hooks either. Removing them probably decreased like 5hp so had to add it back with the pinstripes 😂

S10 Xtreme. Ground effects. Pinstriping. OBS to NBS. Vortec 5.3L. Corvette lights in roll pans. Euros. Simpler times.

Dark Essentials package replaces the red tow hooks with black ones. I believe it also replaces the stainless exhaust tips with the flat black ones.

I wasn’t aware but dark appearance and midnight editions do switch out the hooks. Dark essentials does not though. 3 packages to do essentially the same thing and none of them finish what the others started. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yeah i guess the black hooks are part of the dark package, at least according to the window sticker. I don't mind the black, something different from my 21

Yes, according to the window sticker, this is correct. I replaced the chrome tips on my 21 with the black, so I was glad this one already had it done.

Congrats on the new ride. Enjoy it.

I made the decision to jump from a 24 1500 LT Trail Boss to a 25 3500 LTZ TB.
I did it for the creature features and payload. Adding a truck camper to the mix. Waiting (im)patiently for delivery. 🤙🏼

Hope it gets to you quick! Enjoy when it does!

I have a deal in place for a 2024 LT Trail Boss, 5.3 12,500 miles, slate grey dark essentials package (which I love). My 21 has 37k miles. They are selling the 24 to me for 54k, (originally asking $56,500) They are giving me 41k for my 21. In the end I am financing $42, 678. I am putting $2500 down. I got financed through Navy Federal for 4.79%. The deal is done, truck is being delivered to me on Friday for $300.00. If I refuse the truck, I am only out the $300.00 delivery charge. I love my 21, but my powertrain warranty is up in January. We are all aware of the possible issues these trucks can have (my lifters failed at 5500 miles). My truck is only elegible for a 3rd party warranty which I do not trust. I feel I am getting a pretty good deal. I just have second guesses as I love my 21, but I plan on buying a GMPP warranty before I get to 24k on the 2024 for piece of mind. We only drive about 8k miles a year, and if I buy the GMPP warranty before 24k miles and is still under bumper to bumper, I can get another 7 years which will give me piece of mind as I want to keep it a very long time. I am just trying to stop talking myself out of it, as there is nothing wrong with mine, I love it, but the deal is good and the piece of mind is important too. So, looking for opinions, talk me into going through with it, or I should I back out while I can? Both trucks are 5.3 V8's by the way.

Whatever is best for you!! You know you and family!! Very nice trucks!! The extended warranty on my truck is "safeguard" I have the service protection, and the wheel and tire guard along with key-dent-interior protection. They have been great I had debris of metal hit the rim and tire and needed new tire and rim. No questions asked was replaced with new gm rim and factory tire. All this happened with 1500 miles so I was. Bummed. But all is well now it's a 22 refresh with the 3.0 Duramax. Have 27,000 now. Have warranty till 2030 or 150,000 miles. Look into them. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Congrats she looks purdy. I basically did the same thing. Had a 2021 LT TB 5.3. At 8K lost the lifters on one bank. Warranty only replaced defective bank.
Once she hit 70K and initial warranty expired, I unloaded her for a 2024 LT TB 6.2. I was able to get my $$ back for the extended warranty I had purchased. While I did drive the 2021 for 68k miles after the initial lifter failure, I was never happy or had confidence in driving it.
Never been happier driving the 2024 with upgraded features and not to mention the 6.2 ponies! Enjoy the new ride.

Yeah my lifters on my 21 went out at 5500 miles. Yeah that is always in the back of my mind. I will be buying a GM backed warranty before my bumper to bumper warranty runs out on the 24. Hopefully there will be no problems, but want to be as protected as possible moving forward. If it treats me well, I plan on keeping the 24 for a long time.

I assume the deal went through by now? I have a 2021, luckily I purchased mine in January 2021 which is just before the 6.2's in question (March 2021 through like April 2024). I thought about trading mine in too, but I like that I was able to tune mine and disable DFM, which I don't think is a possibility yet on the new ones. Ever since the refresh in 2022, there aren't simple tuning solutions for those ECM's, so I am losing hope that a solution is coming anytime soon. But if that isn't important to you, then a new warranty definitely sounds worth it!
