TB has serious flaw when off road

He is a kid that works at a shop. He fabricated mine from scratch in his garage. He said he can't do quantity but now that he did all the preproduction on mine maybe he will do some. I will ask him, If he is interested I'll put you in touch.

Steve
Sorry guys. He said he can't do anymore side work and his shop wont do them. As mentioned above I took my truck to 3 other fab shops before I found him and they all blew me off. The whole thing was a PIA.

My emails to ASFIR and RCI Offroad were answered. Unfortunately ASFIR has nothing available, and isnt planning on developing anything for these trucks.

RCI answered: "We are not currently working on any Silverado/Sierra parts however it is on our to-do list. With a handful of other projects already in the works I don't anticipate our engineering team getting to the Silverado/Sierra parts until late 2023/early 2024." - Evan Beisner.

Purple Cranium seems like something that might work? Id still prefer something like what PHXPHOTOG has. I really hope AEV offers theirs!

This is only for the GM 12 bolt and not the AAM 12 bolt. My Trail Boss Custom with the 6.2 has the AAM 12 bolt rear. I'm not sure if all TB's have the AAM or if they are a mix of GM and AAM depending on engine.

Will the aluminum cover extend past that lip that hangs down for protection or is it the same diameter?
I don't know since I haven't put it on and from the website only shows the cover and not with it actually bolted on to a vehicle. Since it's thick cast aluminum I'm hoping it's stronger than the flimsy stock steel that's on there. I had an ARB which was cast iron on my 08 Avalanche, but that's a 10 bolt rear and they don't offer anything for the 12 bolt AAM rears.

Guess I need to start looking for someone in my area that might be able to build a custom one like Steve has..

Any update on the availability of skid plates or if there is a aftermarket cover that does not have the extended lip? I just paid 5,000 to have a new rear end put in as this exact issue happened to me. luckily my insurance covered it as Chevy would have nothing to do with it. thanks for any updates.

I live in Gilbert AZ, would like a like yours. Do you think he could make one for me, I'd be more than happy to take a drive over and meet with him

Sorry, he told me he is not doing it anymore. You can look at mine if you find someone that can fab one for you.

That sucks! It is a terrible design. American Expedition Vehicles partnered with GM on the Bison edition of the Colorado and the newest ZR2 for complete skid protection. The Colorado parts are now offered on their site but not the Silverado yet. Keep an eye on them. Hopefully they become available.

Also, be careful with the unprotected plastic gas tank. Mine has been scraped.

You are the .01% of TB buyers that GM did not take into consideration🤣.

thanks for the response... looks like I am headed to the fabrication shop.

The 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500 ZR2 Bison has this rear Differential skid plate on it. Anyone know if it will fit 2020 Trail Boss 1500. I have the goofy rear diff cover that hangs below and caused me a compete rear end replacement. By the way, this screenshot was taken from the following you tube video by Lonestar Hawaiian:

I believe the 1500 ZR2 Bison edition also has the skid plate. AEV hasn't released them as aftermarket parts yet. They did for the previous gen Colorado ZR2's.

Thanks for the information...I'll keep checking the AEV site.

@PHXPHOTOG Ran into your thread. What a great write up my friend. Love to see these trucks hitting the trails and learning from others what too look out for!
