Valve Lifter

I hope you aren’t stranded on the road with your family when a lifter on the other side goes out, because it will go out. After towing mine back in, they replaced the other side. Hopefully the issue is resolved, but I’m highly skeptical.

Yeah, I'd reasonably expect that there may be more issues. I wsan't happy about it, but I didn't manage the repair with the dealer, our equipment manager did (its a company truck). I actually told him to request all be replaced. No idea if that was relayed.

Reading this and over at GM-Trucks.com makes the L3B look all that more comforting.

Believe GM is replacing all now.

Literally the day before I left for my deployment (about a month ago) I was driving my truck home and when the RPMs dropped and was lugging before down shifting I heard a knock. When it downshifted it went away. Was only able to get it to happen a couple more times. I'm thinking this may be a self inflicted wound because the gas station I always get gas at only had 87 octane. Think this was caused by low octane gas? I would have my wife take it to the dealer but don't want them giving her the run around because she's a girl. Only thing ive done to the truck is put a borla exhaust on it. Thanks!

Excercise that GM warranty when you get back Brother. Be safe. Happy Thanksgiving.

Be safe out there and thank you for your service. Most service centers I have seen have many female service associates and I would not hesitate to have my wife or daughter bring a vehicle in and expect them to be treated with honesty.

Send her armed for success (figuratively, no need to go into the gun safe, lol).
I'd have her drive it daily until it breaks. I'm on my second round of this and your symptoms sound like the same issue. Starts out feeling like a knock or a bump or a very clunky trans gear shift. I was driving down the freeway (downhill, very light throttle). It was windy and it at first felt sort of like a gust of wind (minus it pushing the truck around). Within a couple miles of doing that repeatedly, it was christmas on the dash and ran like chit (rough, poor shifting, thought it was trans for a bit until I got to work and could hear/feel the engine running rough).
Dealer replaced one bank of lifters last month. Now same thing again as of yesterday. Except not quite as severe. Can feel the misfires and it's random.

Get it fixed now. Have her drive it until the condition is very evident. Best time to have it repaired is while you don't "need" it.
And thank you for your service!

Yes, gents, round 2 with the 5.3 lifters. Dlr replaced one bank last month. 2000 miles later, some thing. Can't wait to hear if it's on the side they didn't fix (hopefully) or same side (hope not). Can't get it in until next Tues or Wed, so for now it's parked.

Today was my day. 34k on the clock and it sounds like an elf on the shelf is running around in there with a 10mm socket hanging from his dick. Disgusted in this lemon. Fucking garbage.

What year is the vehicle?

Can't see the truck from here. it's at the stealership. I'm on two wheels for the next two weeks at least. Merry Christmas.
