I don't get this design at all. In fact a few years ago I was in a discussion here about a Rough Country "hidden winch". It got contentious because of my opinion. My point is a winch is something you need to see and be able to put your hands on. This is for a lot of very important reasons. A winch is NOT a tool you want to hide behind a steel bumper with no physical or visual access to. That is flat crazy. There are important controls on most winches you need to manually access with your hands. Not the least of which is the clutch lever to go from free spool to fixed. There is also electronic switches to deal with in many cases that need to be switched. All wireless controlers come with hard wired back ups because wireless often fails. Hard wired controlers plug into the winch. Winch cable/rope does not automaticaly spool its self properly on the spool. I could go on and on. The entire tool also
requires maintenance.
If you have ever used a critical piece of equipment like a winch you will know it is not something you want to "hide" behind a bolted on steel bumper.
Now, even with all that said I will be going with a compromise design next month. I am considering these two option. I will leave the steel mesh out on the install. That will give me some visual and physical access, I hope. Feedback is appreciated.
