What's new

Let's see those Trail Boss trucks towing!

I changed it up a little bit. The wife wanted a toilet and a shower, so we built this from an enclosed trailer. 26 with the v-nose.
It's heavy, but it pulls it great!

Not sure of the exact tounge weight but my 2020 5.3 Trail Boss drags my 18ft G3 around the country like it's hardly even there. And with the stellar low range 4wd and Duratracs, I really don't even need a legit boat ramp to launch it. ??

Mmmmm, Sierra pale.

Love to show you all what I should be towing with my 22 refreshed, BUT it has a known issue with a "Check Trailer Brakes" warning light that prevents the trailer brakes from working. AHHHHHH its the main reason I bought the TB, and is literally the only issue with it... good thing I love this truck.

I just picked up my Christmas present. 2022 Jayco SLX 8 265TH. 5300lbs dry, less than 7500 with the Harley and Golf cart. I added some Timbrens on the back and a Recurve R6 WDH. The Boss pulled it good. Gas mileage sucks at 9.5 mpg.

Any update?
I know this wasn't for me, but I just bought trailer yesterday and had the same issue. It was not fun driving over a mountain with no trailer brakes, thank god I was just picking up an empty open trailer! Apparently it is a known issue from GM there are a TON of complaints about it, to the point of several buy backs, with no Official fix for the bulletin yet. However there is a official/unofficial? Fix that one dealer tried that seems to be working for a bunch of people now. Swapping the controller in the dash to brake controller Part# 84488395 seems to fix the issue. I have ordered the new switch ($20 shipped) which be at my door early next week. I will install it and report back. I have no patience waiting for Chevy on this issue, it's honestly crazy someone hasn't been killed yet.

good description of what is happening to mine but not my video

Yep. GM keeps saying no fix yet, BUT owners on GM truck forums have had success using the new controller. There was some controversy regarding part numbers in that some reported that it was an old number, however it appears the part number of the “bad” units being pulled out is different. Possibly older controller not working with the refreshed software. I have the new controller here as well, but since it’s Colorado in February I’m not taking out the MiniLite!! If GM doesn’t fess up by April, I’ll put it in myself, but the process looks like a bit of a PITA. Well worth $30 to me.

will definitely update, I'm towing my viper across country in next month and I would really like some trailer brakes when doing that!

update- new brake controller has been swapped in, took about 20-30 minutes, super easy. The controller on the left is what was originally plugged in , the controller on the right is the new one part#84488395. I should be able to test it this weekend and report back.

update! I tested the trailer this morning on a 30 mile loop. I pressed both the pedal brakes and manual override as well as adjusted the gain pretty much the entire loop and not a single issue! Trailer is fixed with the new part# swap! Now if I can just convince gm to pay for the $20 dollar part and my time! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
