What's new

Let's see those Trail Boss trucks towing!

I have a 2020 TB LT 5.3 and I am looking to start towing a travel trailer that weighs 8,238lbs. (Bumper tow) what should I do to the rear suspension before hand?

More important than adding airbags ect…. Is get a weight distributing hitch, makes a tremendous difference.

So safe to assume you'll be adding over 1000lbs to it by the time you load it. You need a bigger truck. The Trail Boss is rated at 9400lbs at best.

Thanks for the help. I have decided NOT to attempt the tow and will stick with a loaded weight no more than 8k

Time to show off your Trail Boss towing in this thread. Be sure to include hitch weight and total weight of the trailer.

Why is it so hard to find the right sway bar and weight distribution hitch?!?

I don't think it is so difficult to get the right one. It is tough to get the one with the right specs for what most want to pay.

I chose a Blue Ox hitch and it has been great. I tow level and feel completely in control at highway speeds and up and down mountains. We did a 5,000 mile trip around the Western US this summer. It was an great test of the truck and equipment I'd chosen. No regrets at all.

Now if I go with the blue Ox hitch that has built in sway control do I need to get a sway bar for my truck?

Just pulling the boat.
