10 speed transmission fluid change interval?

Dealer is telling me the 10 speed in my Trailboss is not serviceable and does not require a fluid change.
In owner's manual it says every 45k for severe duty (which I'm not), but if it's not serviceable, why would it list that interval?
Anyone heard this? Thanks.
My dealer wanted 1600.00 to do a transmission service. I know they have to drop the exhaust and components but that's rediculous. AAMCO did it for 790.00. I don't understand why they don't put drain plugs in transmissions like the oil pan. Foreign cars do it. If it weren't for the warranty I'd have an oil drain plug installed in it.

Ppe have one in there tranny pan?

I didn't read all the posts but yes, you can do this yourself if you have any mechanical knowledge. It's not difficult, it's just a little tedious. There are a few YouTube videos showing how to do it. I think the only difference between the gas motors and the 3.0 is that you have to drop the exhaust on the gas motors, NOT the 3.0.

In addition to the filter and pan gasket you will need new bolts for the filter as well. You cannot buy just those bolts though. They come in a service pack for something else within the transmission but you won't need those.

I did mine a few months ago at 20K just to get the original fluid out.

If anybody wants me to, I can do a quick write-up and try to find the videos of the procedure. You will need a fluid pump to put the fluid back in the fill plug on the side of the transmission. You could spend a few hundred on a Motive one but I made one for about $20 using a Home Depot sprayer.

Just let me know.

Why would you need new bolts for the filter? Are they torque to yield? What is so special about them?

Why in the world would a FILTER need torque to yield bolts and the replacement NOT come with them???? Man there's a lot of dumb things in new vehicles.

and why did they remove the transmission fluid dip stick?!?!

We all probably know why but it's still ridiculous.

has anyone watched the vids with Next Gen drivetrain ??? it totally makes since, that dealerships make more money selling and replacing parts...rather than warranty work....goes perfectly with the OE wanting to sell more...so lets not make them serviceable, or very costly to service.

I watched one of the vids. The guy seems like he's full of himself and every trans made is garbage unless he's fixed all the problems. Of course all his parts cost thousands of dollars!

I get your view of it...

But I also, see the numerous failures....having 1 of couple thousand service vehicles...our company sees these failures daily, and our service dealers are using these kits to fix the issues

Transmission fluid is pretty easy to change. You have to drop part of the exhaust, disconnect some smog sensors just to get to the pan. There’s a torque sequence on the pan. Dealer wants $850. I can do it myself for a lot cheaper.

I would suggest getting an AllData subscription too. It lists all the torque specs along with all procedures, etc.

It sounds like the gas models are a little more involved too with having to drop the exhaust and sensors.

One piece of advise. You can disconnect the driveshaft at the front diff to give a little more room but it's not required. If you want to remove the entire driveshaft you will need to remove a one-time use clip.

I used AllData and some videos online to help but there are a few other tidbits that I figured out along the way that might help some others if they decide to tackle this themselves. Let me know.

My '25 manual shows under severe:
Every 72 000 km (45,000 mi)
• Change automatic transmission fluid
and filter.
Every 80 500 km (50,000 mi)
• Change transfer case fluid, if equipped
with 4WD
Trans is not even shown under normal and under normal t-case is 100K

I can say that the trans fluid will be changed at 25K along with t-case (pretty sure t-case I can do; trans not so sure.

I planning on changing mine every 20-25K and t-case and rear diff every 50K or so. I did both t-case and rear diff with around 5K on the truck to get all the break-in stuff out.

Not sure what your mechanical abilities are but the transmission is definitely a DIY type of thing. It seems more difficult reading about it but once you get into it it's not that bad, just messy. I didn't have to drop the exhaust so that's an additional steps and parts that I'm not familiar with.
