2 things not impressed with

I did about 350 mile round trip, mostly interstate, mountainous run today and I'm satisfied with the mileage.
Not to be a Debbie downer, if you did a 350 mile round trip change that average of 25 miles to factor the last 400 miles for a more accurate picture.

I'm just happy to have a truck.

I call BS on the 1000ft range for the Ram with the remote. But, at least we can always start our trucks from miles away with our phones. In Dec 2019 I was driving from Nevada to Virginia, via Utah, in my wife's 2017 Traverse with my then 23 month old daughter. I stopped in Wyoming for a night. Getting up and about to leave the hotel for the day I had everything ready to go and suddenly realized I forgot to buckle my daughter's harness. For some stupid reason I locked the car doors with the key in the ignition and the engine running while I got out of the car to go around and buckle my daughter up. My wife was at work in Virginia. I called her up and asked her to unlock her car with her phone, which she did. That same tech is in our trucks today.
How much is this service per year? Would they open the car if you were not on a subscription?

I have the Chevy App on my phone and can open the doors, start it, honk the horn etc. it’s free.

Unless you got some special deal, it's not free. It's part of OnStar, or now they've offered certain portions of the Chevy App for like $10 a month.

Not personal experience but heard/saw (maybe on here somewhere) Onstar will not remotely unlock your vehicle without active subscription. Even if you offer to sign up right then.

I think jmzvet is correct. Have you tried downloading the MyChevrolet app to your phone and connecting to your truck?

Iirc, it's not OnStar. My wife doesn't have OnStar on her car. Her choice. She never uses it. OnStar has a different app, too. Iirc, it's called OnStar Guardian. I don't have it and don't need it even though I have the most expensive OnStar package for my truck at $35/month.

I downloaded the app, but then saw that all the services are ran thru Onstar. Pretty sure the only thing Onstar does for free is answer the phone.

My Chevy app is a free service from GM. My Onstar ran out after 30 days.

You never know until you actually try

Better check your bank account, if you don't call and cancel after the 30 days, your still getting charged.

I recently ran into a remote issue with the single digit temps here in Texas, the truck wouldnt recognize the key fob so when i got to work i had to use the MyChevy app to lock it. Its now back above freezing and no issues. 1st time its happened to me even though we i had the truck for the last Texas ice storm.

NOT free. Just checked to make sure, and it's $14.99 a month for the Remote Access plan with the myChevrolet mobile app.
