Any known issues w/the 2023 LT Trail Boss?

If it's like my 22 refreshed, you can plan on the hood having a defect right from the factory. The paint will be chipped from the center plastic section. I am now approximately 90 days out from purchase and the only explanation I've been given is that "GM is aware of the problem and they are working on a fix for the issue". Look carefully at that area and it should be readily apparent to you.

Also what engine did you order? That also might help us let you know what you can expect for possible issues… My best guess is you will not get your truck- order till Late April/ early May… Most orders are taken anywhere from 6-8 months from the order date till delivery, hopefully you get lucky and get yours before that.

From personal experience on ordering. Stopped at dealership mid March 2022 to order TrailBoss LT. Was told dealership had to wait until they were allocated 1 to order with the option packages I wanted. Beginning of June 2022 received a phone call from the dealership saying they were ok to order any sold units. Order was placed but never picked up by GM because they still weren't allocated a unit optioned the way I wanted. Stopped by dealership in August of 2022 for an update and still nothing. Was told because of the constraint on the different packages. September 2022 stopped in again for an update and was told at this point, its probably going to be a 2023 if in fact it gets built at all because of the heavy constraint on the 2023 TrailBoss LT models. Only 12% of estimated total by GM are being built. I decided to start keeping an eye out at different dealerships with in 50 mile radius and lo and behold, exact truck I've been trying to purchase is showing in transit to a dealership and is available. Purchased that truck on October 7th when it arrived. To my surprise, I received a phone call from the dealership I was trying to order through on November 2nd telling me they were finally allocated one and able to order if I was still interested. Good luck
Almost my exact story down to the purchase date. Got a ‘22 Sand Dune and added high clearance steps with a deal they had for up to $1000 in accessories

have had my 2023 Duramax for almost a month... love everything about it... 30 mpg on 1500 miles now... the curt trailer brake works a little different but so far seems to function just without the annoying light every time you hit the brake when not connected.. 3 different installers and the curt people can't seem to find any problems with it, but mine was the first 2023 that they had installed it on, so im rolling with it..

Just installed the new badges

I am so glad you shared this! I was just looking at my paperwork the dealer forgot to add the blackout package on mine even though I told him twice but it was a Saturday afternoon in his defense. I ordered mine at towards the end of august and the order has been accepted so I am patiently waiting. How do you like the power of your lzo compared to your previous truck?

to be honest, i'm the wrong person to ask that question to. I drive like a wimp... my number one priority is MPG, driving 110 miles 5 days a week 52 weeks out of the year. so i feather everything.. when i pull the camper in the spring ill get a better idea... I haven't gotten on her at all these first 1500 miles... but the MPG are the same as my other truck, and that is saying something with the 2 inch lift and the bigger mud tires... to get 28+ mpg with this big of a truck at 75 mph is just incredible... I absolutely love this motor... I imagine if I had the same truck i had before with the new LZ0 i would get 32 mpg average... also, my truck had the dark essentials package... it didn't arrive on the train with the truck, but I wasn't about to go get it until it was done... it came about a week later, included that badges for the back and for the Duramax badge on the hood, but not the z71 badge. I gave it a few weeks but just decided I wanted the blacked out look... those were super easy to put on, are the same size and seem about the same quality... def worth the money imo

I don’t blame you for driving like a wimp. I am going to drive like a wimp as well with these higher diesel prices! I am so happy that your getting that kind of mileage. I am replacing a 2002 duramax with the roughly the same power, but way worse mileage on the older truck. I ordered my truck 4 months ago before diesel prices went up so high and was doubting my decision on getting the diesel, but after hearing how much you like yours I am positive I made the right choice.
Thanks for posting your experience!

you 100% made the right choice I almost went back to the 5.3... did all the math, even with diesel at its very highest... I still came out on top... and there is just something about being able to go 700 miles between fill ups that i will never tire of...

And the coolest decal ever….

You know I received my 2022 (6.2 10 speed) refresh last month stressing on the hood deal as I was waiting (9 months) for truck to be delivered which I should have not. Have 731 miles on it and decided to do the paint correction on whole truck myself today and didn't see any chipping on the hood. I guess I am lucky as the only problems I have are door handle/lock system only locks and will not unlock & radio/phone drops but will address these minor problems when time for first oil change. But love this one compared to the 20219 TB (5.3 8 speed) I had as it's night and day difference. But I will say I not a fan of the new hood with the cowling on it.

I think Chevy should have made it a $500 option👍
