Black exhaust tips

Geez that’s steep, couldn’t pull off the sleeves and paint yourself? I’ve seen someone do it, unsure if it was on this forum, one bolt or nut holding it on. Think the guy said he paid 75 bucks for them to get coated.
I used PlastiDip on mine. I had concerns about how well it would hold up but months later I have no issues.

I had mine powder coated gloss black to match the bumper. Looks great in my opinion. Flows really well into the bumper. Crazy prices for these online.

Three bolts hold them on. At least mine were held on by three bolts. Two are behind the bumper mounting brackets.

This might not matter to some of you that don't 4wheel your truck. But the "HDMI" tips people joke about is a purpose built design. They are tucked flush with the bumper and flat to protect them. On a steep departure angle your heavy duty receiver hitch is the low point on the back of your truck. It is capable of taking a pretty good hit while protecting the bumper. If you go with round aftermarket tips (some go up to $600.00) they will become your new low point and get destroyed. It does not take a radical drop to scrape the hitch on departure. YMMV.

Kind Regards, Steve

GM offers black exhaust tips instead of chrome as an accessory. Has anyone bought and installed them yet? If so do they match the bumper and does anyone have pictures?
I replace mine with a pair of flat black powder coated off ebay, steep at $200 but they will buy the chrome tips for $50. (I blacked out all badging). the seller also has gloss black tips. bit of a pain to change out(tight spots) but worth it

I removed my chrome exhaust tips and called a local powder coater. He charged me $30 total to powder coat them any color I wanted. I chose matte black. they turned out great. There is a video on you tube by a guy with a channel called Truck Ownership 101. He had a great video about how to remove them and re-install them.

I removed mine and used the high heat flat black spray. Looked great but scratched very easily. Took them back off and had them powder coated flat black. IMO if your going to the trouble to get these things off you may as well get them coated. If you don’t have skinny arms I recommend removing the step pads on the corners of the bumper.

I used the Dupli-Color engine enamel. I hit them with a quick sand blast in my cabinet to ruff it up.

I just took the big HDMI ports off, you chould just spray them down in bedliner if you wanted to keep them
