Shouldn't be that difficult to pin it down to a specific batch of springs? Unless most of them are crap and if you don’t break one you’re lucky
Agreed. They *could* be more specific but they are taking the "deal with it as it comes along" approach. It's absolute crap. If GM truly wanted to build brand loyalty, they'd be more proactive about making things right with consumers. I've been in the service industry for about 30 years and I understand **EVERY** manufacturer gets terds in their production. Bad outsourcing, bad in-house designs, bad metallurgy, and the list goes on. They *could* get out ahead of this and make it right and keep their generations of loyal followers happy, but they won't. They'd rather hide behind corporate lawyers and take the BITCH route and wait to be sued or threatened to do anything. When I have these types of discussions, I defer to firearm references. Ruger, as a manufacturer makes a reliable product. Yes, they've had some quality control issues, but they stand behind their products. I've had occasion to contact them in regards to some quality issues. And they went out of their way to make it right. At their cost, not mine. All the way down to shipping costs and then going above and beyond by sending "apologetic freebies". They want to ensure customer satisfaction, and they did. Hi-Point (yes, I know). Same issue. Had a broken part on a new firearm. A single phone call and they sent me 2 replacements of said part, at their cost, OVERNIGHT, no questions. Taurus (yes, I know, again). I've had multiple failures within their product lines. I think their overall quality control is garbage, but their designs and innovations are leading in the industry and they price things well so that they stay relevant. Along with that, you will be using their warranty due to the aforementioned quality control. They make things right. Automotive manufacturers have billionaires in their pocket and millionaire lawyers on retention to keep the common folks at bay when they get screwed over. None of them have the working person's interest at heart. Corporate greed and competition drive them to make things cheaper every year while raising the price to the end user each time. I'm seriously considering selling my TB and going old-school. I'd rather have a truck that squeaks, rattles, leaks a little oil, and needs routine upkeep that I know is going to run and get me and my family where I need/want to go without the worry of some piece of shit electronic part failing randomly, engine self-destructing at 100-35,000 miles because of inferior parts sourcing, etc. I sold my Tacoma to get this TB because Toyota kept effing around with their fuel systems, shoddy piss-poor 6 speed shift negotiations, and lack of support. I come from a lifelong GM family. Not "hey my dad drove a Chevy, so I'm getting one." My family was GM. Worked for. Owned GM dealerships. Sold them and stood by them. We all remember early 2000's and that's when I parted ways with GM. Thought I'd try them again after getting burned by Toyota.... Is there anybody left with quality? Anyway, rant over. And if by chance a GM upper-level manager ever reads this: What's the cost in the end? How many customers do you want to push away in droves due to the lies and deceit? A single well-satisfied customer report goes miles further past bad reviews. Imagine if most consumers were happy? The brand loyalty would blossom. Safer motoring folks...
