What about E85 ! I haven’t heard anything about that?? I’ve looked all over my truck to see if it would take it !! On my last 2011 Silverado 5.3 LT took e85 not only it was $2.00 a gallon it also ran awesome! Question is can we run e85 in the 2022 trail boss custom???

NO you can't run E85 on these trucks.

New member. Why all the foreign writing. Did I join the wrong Trail BOSS forum
Hacker/spammer got on here and blew up the place with garbage posts. Looks like the admins/mods banned the accounts.

I only run premium gas and I’m in a ‘22 TB 2.7

*fyi - no aftermarket catch can needed, there’s one built-in
I have the same year/engine the manual said 87 min but looking at other places online it says run premium. So, I am confused as to which is required for longevity. I just bought it used with super low miles so basically trying to figure out which direction to go and what is GMCs "official" RECOMMENDATION

Use what the manual says. The people who designed the engine wrote the book. Octane ratings have to do with the point of detonation. If you use the wrong octane you're causing the fuel to combust at the wrong time of the stroke cycle in the cylinder, which leads to the computer adjusting timing, retarding knock, decreasing power, all while your mpg suffers. This all could cause your emissions to be more dirty those causing issues with your oxygen sensors and catalytic converter.

That was my thought all along but I was like am I missing something because I read in several spots where people said they would definitely us premium for whatever reasons but I was going with the manual to be safe thanks. Heck I’ll take any input though

Exactly. It has much to do with the compression ratio and those turbo-charged motors usually have a lower compression ratio, hence lower octane.

while I chose to run only premium in my 2.7T, I do refuel much faster than I would running the minimum recommended 87.

Like others said, the engine was tested using a minimum of 87, so as long as you run 87 or higher, you're fine.

Premium today was $4.79/gal, diesel was about $5.01/gal, meanwhile, 87 was $3.84/gal - I questioned life after paying $102 on 93
