What's new

Husky rear wheel well guards

The GM felt liners are fantastic. They are flexible, durable, and tone down the noise level A LOT. I dont know if its becuase they are felt vs plastic, but they quieted down my road noise levels considerably.

I've had the felt ones on the front and rear for approximately 125,000 miles and they still look new with no rips, tears, or wear marks, and I DO off road my truck in muddy and rocky terrain. I was VERY hesitant about the felt liners at first, but I went ahead and purchased them with my free GM rewards points when I bought the truck, and I will never go back to the plastic ones if I can help it, these are just too quiet, easy to install, easy to clean with a pressure washer, and durable. The only two aftermarket accessories that GM provides that are a better value than the competition are the felt wheel liners, and their aftermarket rubber floor liners similar to WeatherTech, but infinitely more durable and flexible.. They nailed it with those two.
Agree. I had the felt liners on my previous two HD’s and really liked how they held up and cleaned with a power washer. That’s why I waited until they came off constraint and used points to purchase them for this truck.

When looking to purchase the Husky rear wheel well guards it states that they won’t fit on the TB. Can anyone verify that they’ve installed these on a TB? Can’t seem to find ones that confirm they fit on our trucks.
Spend the extra money and buy them from the dealer

It’s not about the money. Maybe I should have been more clear, although no one else made that comment. I’m not interested in the felt ones. I want the polyethylene plastic ones. GM doesn’t offer these, just the same felt-type ones that come standard in the front wheel wells.

I like the felt ones. You cant hear every pebble flinging off your tires and they clean up easily with a hose.

Felt ones hold dirt and salt. That matters when you live in a state that salts the roads. It's going to cause whatever is behind it to rust.

The felt ones also have a plastic backing. It's not what's behind the line, but what's located where the liner ends. Therefore, plastic has the same problem. The only difference between the 2 is felt retains some salt and dirt, whereas plastic allows it to slide off onto the fender while it's wet. When it's dry it doesn't matter if it's felt or plastic.

the GM REAR felt liners are plastic with FELT ??? the front do not have the rigid plastic like years past. ME PERSONNALY, i would prefer the rigid black plastic...much clear look in my opinion.

It's a thin clear plastic backing. That's how it holds its form. Felt is soft and flexible. It needs to be adhered to something to maintain its form.

Plastic liners are known to crack or shatter if you live in a cold weather state. The factory “felt” liners won’t, and actually have better acoustic performance for road and tire noise.

I live in Michigan and have NEVER EVER had a plastic liner crack or shatter due to cold. I don't give a crap about acoustic performance if it holds salt and rusts everything behind it.

How can the felt liners cause rust on anything behind them when there is a plastic barrier behind the felt that creates the mold and its ability to retain the shape?

Live in a salt state. Any place that can hold salt will cause anything near it to rust.

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City. There isn't a saltier place in America. 2nd saltiest body of water in the world, and saltiest snow in the country due to the Bonneville Salt Flats. The rust isn't caused by GM's felt liners. You won't find salt issues caused by them. You'll find salt causing issues in places where the salt got to and it wasn't removed. That does mean behind the wheel well liners, too. That problem affects all wheel well liners, not just GM's. People assume plastic is better than felt, but dismiss the felt liners because they ignore the truth that the felt liners are plastic lined. Basically, the Husky liners are a step below the GM felt liners. Both are plastic. GM just goes an extra step to cover with felt to reduce road noise and the sound of rocks being kicked up and impacting the liner. Just like a Husky liner with dried on salt water residue needs a pressure sprayer to get clean, so too does the GM liner. When it comes to protecting from salt, neither is superior to the other. The GM ones are superior at ruching road noise and debris impacts.

to clear the air with me...I KNOW THE FELT HAS A BACKING...I STILL PREFER THE LOOK OF ACTUAL PLASTIC LINERS !!! NOT THE FELT
