JLT catch can

Got my truck w/ 2 mile's on the dash. Installed the JLT Oil Catch Can at 500ish miles, current just over 2250 miles.

100% recommend getting one!

I would recommend checking it every 2500 mi if you do not have the can extender. It does a nice job. I have posted about it also
 
Opted for the Elite Engineering Catch Can, liked the design a little better and they have a patent. Make one just for the GM/Chevy trucks.
Company is very helpful with questions - great customer service.

 
Installed the JLT on my 5.3L. Have had one in several different vehicles I own and it definitely catches alot of stuff.
 
This really comes down to who you listen to. There are so many debates about how a catch can is worthless and then there are people that swear by them. There are articles supporting catch cans (specifically with direct injection engines as well as Turbo engines) and then there are people who believe that if the manufacturer made it that way it should be good. With every modification, you will hear the pros on one side and cons on the other. Let's not go down that road here and let everyone who has one enjoy it and those that do not have one feel they don't need it. - THANKS
 
As always, there are two sides to every story. Oil catch cans seem to work great and I plan on putting one on my truck when it arrives.

I’ve read in the past that manufacturers don’t put it in at the factory because it is one more maintenance step the consumer needs to take. They try to streamline maintenance is all.

You’d be just fine running without one, but it would be better if one was installed, if that makes any sense.
 
I agree if you want to run one then do it. These are really designed for supercharged and turbo based motors for a lot of reasons. I will be running one myself in a couple months when we install the twin-screw supercharger on a modified engine. Installing purely for better fuel economy of course!

I own a 2022 custom TB ltd with the 2.7 turbo but can not find a catch can anywhere online that fits it. Any recommendations? I've posted a thread a while back but never got any help.
 
I’ve had one on my ls1 Camaro for years as those early gen iii’s were notorious for PVC systems that went through a ton of oil. I had always heard (internet wisdom) that OEM’s didn’t put them on for emissions reasons. It’s cleaner to burn that excess oil than to save it to possibly be dumped later.

I’ll say that it was the first mod to my truck for no other reason that should there be intake upgrades in the future, I’d prefer not to have a soupy mess waiting on me.
 
Do they have one for the 2022 2.7 turbo? I can't seem to find one.
I spoke with my Chevy dealer and they said we don’t need an oil catch can for the 2.7 Turbo because GM designed the engine to manage it internally. They used more technical terms but ultimately they said if someone makes an aftermarket catch can for this engine, I could still use it, but they don’t recommend it because if anything goes wrong with the engine, GM will 100% try to push back and try to blame the issue on any aftermarket part I installed on the engine unless it’s an OEM part.

that why you take it off, but again, the design for internally controlled is what does the harm
 

slightly different topic, but the ENGINNERS of the world think greatness is abundant in their minds...recently, during a really cold day...this TSB caused my daughters car to spit out the main seals and intake manifold gaskets. Tech said their fix, is to drill the orifice larger and possibly vent the oil fill cap.

thats right, a slight build up or ICE from the moisture can clog it...i think i will keep all mist of oil from entering my intake track and gumming up my valves.
